Reliability Electrical Engineer

This position is located at the Columbus, MS Global Cellulose Fibers mill.  As one of the largest softwood pulp producers in the world, this location produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals and photographic-based papers.  The successful candidate will support the Electrical and Instrumentation Reliability program by providing technical support to E&I technicians and operations personnel, analyzing chronic electrical and instrumentation issues to develop and implement solutions.  The position reports to the Electrical Reliability Manager.



  • Promote an atmosphere of safety excellence through leading by example and interceding when necessary to correct behaviors.
  • Optimize mill processes and reduce process variability through application of precision maintenance principles.
  • Improve the effectiveness of the electrical and instrumentation preventive maintenance program by reviewing E&I related downtime, auditing existing routes, verifying loop criticalities, prioritizing time based routes, and modifying routes as needed.
  • Control and prioritize the flow of work from notification to work order planning, including the work order backlog.
  • Ensure that new electrical and instrumentation equipment is designed and installed for long term reliability.
  • Eliminate failures by identifying latent causes and implementing effective solutions to prevent future failures.
  • Insure that E&I technician skill sets are being developed by review of training programs and interaction with the technicians.
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are compliant with all environmental and safety requirements.
  • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection)



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years electrical engineering experience; five (5) + years preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Proven commitment to safety and safety processes.
  • Strong technical foundation in electrical engineering.
  • High level of initiative and motivation.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written).
  • Able to excel with minimum supervision and work independently.
  • Desire and ability to work as a team player.
