PURPOSE:

This position/role exists to:

  • Provide engineering and support for International Paper’s Enterprise Firewall and Remote Access System, which is used by all employees in all facilities across all businesses, worldwide as well as customers/vendors/partners interfacing with International Paper systems.
  • Install and maintain technologies and systems that support enterprise remote access and security.

 

The key customers of this position include but are not limited to:

  • All International Paper employees/customers/partners across all businesses that utilize International Paper’s Firewall and Remote Access System for remote access to the IP Global Data Network.
  • Plant engineering staff and vendors who authorize or use (respectively) Vendor VPN to provide secured access to vendor systems.
  • Information Security team members responsible for designing and auditing access controls.

 

The key actions, outputs, deliverable, products and Services include:

  • Firewall and Remote Access System engineering, support and management.
  • Support of Firewall and Remote Access System Service Levels.
  • High quality, reliable, stable, and persistently available Firewall and Remote Access System technologies and services, worldwide.
  • Expansion, deployment, refresh and removal, etc… of all supported Firewall and Remote Access System technologies and services.
  • Standard, repeatable and business adaptive processes for the delivery and support of Firewall and Remote Access System services.
  • Enterprise level Firewall and Remote Access System standards and strategies that support current and future IP business requirements.
  • Services: Firewall technologies (including Cisco ASA, FTD and FirePower); Remote Access System (also including Cisco ASA/FTD firewalls), Remote Access / Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and Internet Connectivity

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITES:

  • Maintenance and support of all Firewall and Remote Access System technologies and services (end-to-end).
    • Execution of applicable Enterprise Firewall and Remte Access System standards and supprt processes.
    • Coordinate work with all staff, facility management and vendor related activities regarding all service activities.
    • Participation in applicable Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity solutions and exercises.
    • Monitor and maintain applicable facility, campus and/or Enterprise Service Levels (SLAs) (aligned with vendr SLAs).

 

  • Major/Primary Activities: Firewall design, configuration and monitoring; Remote Access system design, configuration and monitoring for Employee, site-to-site and Vendor VPN; configuration and monitoring of firewalls in remote locations.

 

KEY CHALLENGES:

The external environment, including technology, competition, markets:

  • Proper visibility (and application within IP) of declining, current and emerging network security and access technologies.
  • Responding to unplanned and on-demand Firewall and Remote Access System technology service needs, failures, and degradations.
  • Managing service reliability and availability across multiple technologies and geographies across multiple vendors.

 

The internal environment, including interaction with others, (both inside and outside the company) policies/practices:

  • Ensuring Enterprise visibility and common global use of all applicable Firewall and Remote Access System technologies and services.
  • Providing standardized, scalable yet adaptable network solutions that meet varying business/facility requirements.
  • Development and reporting of common business aligned metrics and trend analysis that clearly articulate the quality, reliability, value and enterprise use of all Firewall and Remote Access System technologies and services.

 

The work itself, e.g., problems, opportunities, change:

  • Complete in-sourcing and establishment of a consistent and reliable full suite of enterprise Firewall and Remote Access System services.
  • Continued maturation and improvement of all Data Network enabled technologies, services and processes.

 

SCOPE:

The qualified candidate will have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of direct Firewall and Remote Access System and/or Network Security technologies, services and operational experience.
  • 2+ years experience with International Paper (desired), preferably in Information Technology and/or a Business.
  • Cisco CCIE Security, Security +, CISSP certifications a plus
  • Cisco CCDP and/or Cisco CCNP Security certification or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrate excellence in written and verbal communication skills at Technical and Managerial levels.
  • An advanced understanding and practical application experience of the following technologies, services, vendors: 
    • ​​​​​​​Cisco ASA firewalls; firewall rule development and troubleshooting; Layer-3 Local Area Network (LAN) support, Performance Monitoring and Tuning.
  • Demonstrate practical application of the following competencies: Business Acumen; Command Skills; Customer Focus; Decision Quality; Directing Others; Innovation Management; Managing and Measuring Work; Political Savvy; Presentation Skills; Process Management; Strategic Agility; Technical Savvy; Written Communications.

 

COMMENTS:

  • Minimal Travel (<15%); Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
