PURPOSE:

The Application Security Build Manager works with the Application Security team, which is part of the Information Security organization within the Technical Services area of Information Technology.  


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and implementing for SAP and other enterprise applications the security strategies, procedures, standards, and tools necessary to enable business functionality while securing sensitive data and otherwise supporting the Company’s internal controls guidelines.
  • Providing analysis, development, documentation, testing, and maintenance of activity roles, job roles, profiles, and authorizations for all SAP landscapes (including ERP, HR, Portal, BW, CRM, SCEM, APO, SRM, Solution Manager, CUA, Netweaver Gateway) and some non-SAP landscapes (including Sabrix, Vendavo, and SuccessFactors). 
  • Building and supporting security functionality by completing system configuration, reporting, and master data maintenance and by partnering with Application Services as needed to design, build, and sustain custom functionality.
  • Owning and supporting SAP systems that help secure SAP implementations worldwide by managing user access and activities:
    • Central User Administration (CUA) 
    • Governance, Risk, & Compliance (GRC)
  • Monitoring and enforcing security policies in accordance with International Paper’s Global Information Security strategy, plan, and operating model.

Build Manager – Position Responsibilities

The employee will be responsible for supporting the goals of the Application Security team by managing the Build team.  The team’s primary duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Creating, maintaining, and supporting role-based security objects for SAP and related applications.
    • Updating activity roles that underlie access to SAP systems.
    • Configuring system security permissions for SAP-related applications
    • Designing security objects for effective user provisioning via MyAccess.
  • Building and supporting security-related system functionality.
    • Updating system data to support role administration, user administration, and applications.
    • Managing configuration, transports, and other technical aspects of system support.
    • Building functional specifications and working with development teams to build functionality.
    • Researching application support tools to resolve system issues and identify opportunities.
    • Validating and testing system change from custom development, support packs, or upgrade.
  • Ensuring SAP and related system security complies with internal control guidelines and best practice.
    • Managing the application of SAP Recommended Security Notes across the SAP landscape.
    • Limiting IT Sensitive Access.
    • Supporting internal and external audits.
  • Engaging in business partner and Application Security projects and sustain activities.
    • Supporting the design of security solutions from general business requirements.
    • Working to assign new user access in support of business and process implementations.
    • Assisting with all tasks required to ensure users have the access they need but no more.

 

In support of these duties, the Build Manager will manage the team’s work activities with other members of the Application Security lead team (Manager, Technical Leads, and Business Partner Support Lead).  Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • People Management
    • Establishing, maintaining, and managing to a defined staffing plan
    • Balancing workload across a team of Memphis and Krakow-based resources
    • Guiding employees through MyRoadmap (1:1s, CSAs, Objectives, and Development Plans)
    • Defining promotion, merit reward planning, and engagement opportunities
    • Supporting The IP Way Forward as well as all people development processes and activities
  • Project Management
    • Collaborating with teammates and partners in support of team and cross-functional projects
    • Creating, updating, and communicating project plans for internal improvement efforts
    • Articulating project status and issues to stakeholders in multiple organizations
  • Process Management
    • Recognizing and addressing internal controls vulnerabilities in systems and processes
    • Engaging with team leadership to establish and implement effective security practices
    • Creating, generating, and analyzing reports and information in support of build activities
    • Explaining security concepts, processes, and procedures to various stakeholders
    • Working with the Application Security Manager to formulate strategy for the organization
  • Role Management
    • Designing, implementing, and refining role management processes and procedures
    • Leading employees in building and maintaining activity roles and role permissions
    • Reviewing employees’ work to ensure adherence to processes, procedures, and standards
    • Organizing activity role updates for enhancement packs and upgrades
    • Supporting the team in resolving user security issues including root cause analysis
    • Providing support for security-related audits by internal and external partners
  • Solution Management
    • Designing, implementing, and refining solution management processes and procedures
    • Leading employees in building and maintaining configuration and development
    • Reviewing employees’ work to ensure adherence to processes, procedures, and standards
    • Organizing functionality updates for enhancement packs and upgrades
    • Supporting the team in resolving security solution issues including root cause analysis
    • Coordinating development activities with business partner development resources

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Technical experience in an IT role
  • Experience with multiple SAP products (ERP, HR, Portal, BW, CRM, SCEM, APO, Solution Manager, Gateway, CUA, GRC)
  • Experience with SAP technical tools (ABAP, ChaRM, Java, OSS, eCATT, Fiori, ALE, IMG, Query)
  • Experience with SAP or other application security model and authorization concepts
  • Experience interacting with customers, business partners, and peer groups
  • Experience developing and explaining process flows
  • Experience writing functional specifications 
  • Experience testing system functionality
  • Experience formulating solutions after working to understand business process requirements
  • Experience with common desktop software tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Project

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience with SAP-related products (SuccessFactors, Vendavo, Sabrix, Ariba)
  • Experience managing projects
  • Experience analyzing data with Excel or Access
  • Experience with internal control concepts (Sarbanes-Oxley, segregation of duties)
  • Familiarity with role based security and monitoring
  • Familiarity with authentication, SSO, and SSL concepts
  • Familiarity with directory packages such as LDAP or Active Directory
  • Familiarity with HANA and HANA-related tools
