Shipper / $21.89 per hour

Reports to

Plant Superintendent

Job Purpose

To perform advanced level material handling for material processing in the facility

 

Umbrella responsibilities of all employees:

  • Assist and support implementation of EHS initiatives and strategies to reduce risk including but not limited to the areas of: OSHA, ergonomics, injury / illness reduction, hazard communication, environmental, emergency preparedness, and general employee safety
  • Supports LIFE areas, Safety Leading Indicators and Global Program Elements
  • Ensures a clean and safe work environment
  • Adhering to Plant policies and guidelines
  • Working safely and looking out for the safety of those around them
  • Following Safe Reliable Methods (SRMs) or Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards
  • Attending and participating in Plant safety meetings.
  • Managing controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
  • Reporting any safety or maintenance concerns

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete daily pre-start forklift maintenance inspection report (or VCR)
  • Load and unload trailers, rail cars and/or containers
  • Assist with sorting, deboxing, shredding and receiving
  • Complete load sheet to accurately record the grades, bale count, loading start/stop times for finished goods on outbound shipments
  • Assist with basic material grading
  • Complete and submit load sheet at completion of shipment
  • Follow proper trailer loading and unloading lock-out/tag-out procedure
  • Understand and follow load pattern according to trailer, railcar, bale size and weight variables
  • Assist with removing finished bales and storing in proper location
  • Complete daily weekly monthly PMs for all certified mobile equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Gloves, approved safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vest, hard hat, steel toed shoes.

  • N/A

 

Information collected and exchanged

  • Communicate to dispatch when trailers are completely loaded and/or unloaded including trailer number, door number
  • Communicate with floor lead – maintenance issues, downtime, production issues, unacceptable or non-conforming loads, poor bale quality, errors on supplier tickets versus actual receipts any other issues with material being handled

 

Training/Registration/License/Certification requirement

  • Forklift training (Must be signed off by Lead or management personnel.)
  • Paper grade recognition training
