Area Cost Estimator

We currently have an opening for an Area Capital Estimator within our North American Packaging Solutions (NAPS) Division. The Area Capital Estimator is responsible for supporting capital project development, assisting plant teams with scoping and cost estimating of capital projects and assisting with the capital planning process within the assigned manufacturing facility business area.  This position reports to the Project Engineer, Cost Estimator with oversight from the Capital Project Development Manager.

  • Provide individual plant business teams with direction and coaching to help develop capital plans that meet the division’s expectations for content, supporting data, and prioritization.
  • Support plants in collecting data and supporting information required to develop their capital projects.
  • Work closely with the Capital Development team to ensure compliance and consistency in the policy application.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and discussion partner to area facilities on basic scope development and cost estimate creation. Consult with the North American Packaging Solutions (NAPS) cost estimating engineer or project engineer for direction on the creation of Area Capital Estimated (ACE) level project cost estimates to ensure completeness and consistency. Ensure quotes are obtained locally for equipment and services to accurately support the project scope and intent.
  • Manage the acquisition, review, and maintenance of the Plant Master Equipment Database for each plant within the area. Make updates to the database as needed.
  • Coordinate changes to the area capital plan with the area manufacturing manager, regional management, and NAPS capital development group.
  • Act as an advocate for plant needs in the capital planning and allocation process and facilitate prioritization with the Area Manufacturing Manager (AMM).
  • Update cost estimates if a scope change or overruns are required after project approval.
  • The location of the successful candidate is flexible but will require access to a major airport and requires 30-50% travel.

 

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:

  • Bilingual, fluent in Spanish and English to be able to communicate with all Spanish and English speaking facilities in the LATAM Region.
  • BS or equivalent in business management, finance, engineering or related business discipline.
  • Understanding of the capital process, budgeting, estimating and cost control.
  • 3+ years corrugated box industry experience including a detailed understanding of corrugated equipment and the corrugating process.
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of facility infrastructure and equipment within a corrugated manufacturing facility.
  • Understanding and ability to utilize AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Unifier Capital Project Development software and systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of company management.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational and data management skills.
  • Basic understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical, scope requirements and scheduling/organizational requirements for corrugated equipment installations.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to read and evaluate building infrastructure and equipment layout drawings.
