The Job You Will Perform:
The MRO and Services Buyer is responsible for the strategic sourcing and procurement of a wide range of indirect materials and services that support manufacturing and converting operations across all International Paper facilities in Mexico. This includes categories such as MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations), tools, packaging materials, operating supplies, facility services, and other plant-related needs.
- Safety Commitment: Actively participate in required safety training and workplace
safety conversations.
- Identify and report any safety risks using the channels and procedures established by the company.
- Ethical Conduct: Demonstrate and promote ethical behavior in all business dealings.
- Comply with the company’s Code of Conduct and ensure that third-party suppliers adhere to the Third-Party Code of Conduct. Promptly report any suspected violations.
- Procurement Management: Lead procurement of assigned indirect goods and services to ensure consistent, cost-effective supply aligned with operational needs.
- Implement sourcing strategies that support plant operations and comply with corporate procurement standards.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, service levels, and terms to maximize value while minimizing risk.
- Evaluate and manage supplier performance, focusing on quality, service, and responsiveness.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across manufacturing plants,
maintenance, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver sourcing solutions.
- Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure procurement practices align with
company policies, ethical standards, and audit requirements.
- Market Insight: Monitor market trends, pricing developments, and availability
conditions in assigned categories.
- Team Support: Support the broader purchasing team on other spend categories as needed.
The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment with exposure to MRO and indirect spend categories.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and/or employees.
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective negotiation and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage diverse, low- to mid-volume categories simultaneously.
