We currently have an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor at our Savannah Container plant.  This facility manufactures packaging products for local and national customers.

 

The Maintenance Supervisor leads and directs the maintenance department and provides expertise, leadership, and direction in all areas related to machine and facilities maintenance.  With a focus on safe operations, the maintenance supervisor plans and coordinates the daily activities of the Maintenance Department in support of plant goals in the areas of productivity, quality and waste.  This requires both a focus on leadership and process management to positively impact materials, machines as well as the internal and external customers of the facility.

 

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Safety:  Ensure the safety and well being of ones self, the maintenance department, contractors, and all of the employees in the manufacturing facility. Address safety work orders in a timely manner.   Identify areas where safety issues could arise and take proactive measures to address the concerns. Participates in weekly, monthly, semi annual and annual safety and environmental audits.  Actively participates on the plant’s Safety Committee.  Maintain a high level of housekeeping, organization, and cleanliness in the maintenance shop. 
  • Team Work:  Instill a team concept in the work place. Maintain a good working relationship with plant management, departmental supervisors and hourly employees. Continually communicate in a positive manner. 
  • PMs and Benchmarking:  Develops and utilizes a reliability based program to proactively address equipment issues. Actively pursue preventative measures to reduce downtime on production equipment.   Plans and executes weekly, monthly, and quarterly PMs and benchmarking opportunities.  Plans and develops follow-up activities to address issues discovered during the PMs.
  • Budget Management:  Maintain the monthly and yearly maintenance parts budget.  Schedule maintenance personnel to meet monthly maintenance labor targets.  Identify opportunities and take measures to reduce operating costs.
  • Planning:  Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to plan and schedule all maintenance activities.  Utilizes data and the maintenance indices to prioritize maintenance activities.  Conducts the weekly maintenance planning meeting.  Utilizes Kiwi and SAP to schedule maintenance activities during windows of opportunity.  Schedules maintenance personnel to support the daily production and maintenance efforts.  Plans, schedules and monitors the timely completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Communication:  Daily communicates all maintenance plans throughput the organization to ensure safe and efficient maintenance activities.
  • Project Management:  Works with the plant controller and process improvement manager to develop capital projects.  Coordinates with company engineers, vendors, and contactors to plan successful and efficient installations and rebuilds. 
  • Personnel Development:  Engages the maintenance personnel through the development of each individual’s technical knowledge.  Develops the maintenance staff through one on ones, internal training, workshops, and eternal classes.

 

Education:

  • BS/BA in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or similar technical discipline preferred.
     

 Requirements:

  • Five or more years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with proven skills in the areas of electrical, PLC, and computer-controlled equipment. 
  • Corrugated industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in instituting preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Demonstrated project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance and inventory control systems processes in SAP or similar enterprise software solutions.
  • Working knowledge and ability to utilize personal computers and software.
  • Union experience desired.
