Performs procurement functions at the Vicksburg Mill to secure goods and/or services for the facility with an emphasis on Stores Materials and Repairs in accordance with purchasing policy to maximize total value received.  The position reports to the Manager of Purchasing and Stores and will be located at the Vicksburg Mill.


***Position level will depend upon experience and education of the successful candidate***


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Process MRP Orders daily; evaluate for materials that can be purchased from other International Paper facilities.
  • Track and resolve MRP Late Orders, Obsolete/un-orderable materials, and material returns with vendors and mill personnel
  • Responsible for Repair and Return (06) material process management and tracking
  • Process Purchase Orders for assigned mill areas to ensure stable supply and timely availability of materials and services
  • Provide prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers by communicating effectively with the Operation, Engineering, and Maintenance areas
  • Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate bid responses, verify history of supplier service and ability to meet contract specifications, and negotiate contracts
  • Ensure all purchased goods and services are of acceptable quality and meet established specifications and requirements
  • Support implementation and adherence to Global Sourcing Agreements, Purchasing policies,  and strategies for purchasing and materials management processes at the mill level
  • Obtain maximum value for IP regarding cost, quality, delivery and service levels
  • Support mill safety initiatives


Working Conditions

  • Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, and fall protection in elevated positions. 
  • Must be active for extended periods of time in the storeroom.
  • Will be required to work extended hours as needed.
  • Will be assigned weekend duty as part of a team rotation.

Knowledge And Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years purchasing/storeroom experience including bidding, negotiating, and administering contracts and agreements is preferred.
  • Storeroom Experience Highly Preferred
  • Pulp, Paper and Industrial Manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Effective Written & Verbal Communication Skills
  • Proficient in Computer Use
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Required
  • SAP Business Software Knowledge Preferred


EducationBachelor Degree or equivalent work experience
