Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow all safety rules and practices
Utilize excellent mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication, etc.) to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in a safe and timely manner
Use a meter to perform basic electrical checks (voltage, resistance, etc.)
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints and drawings
Must provide own basic hand tools
Work positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems
Engage in preventive maintenance processes in assigned areas
On-the-job success in safety, attendance and quality of work
Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills
Willing and able to work flexible shifts and weekends are required
Able to work with computer system for maintenance processes and work orders
Perform fabrication of equipment and parts through welding and machining
Lubricates and cleans parts
Use various physical senses to perform job assignment
Attends meetings, participates in individual and team initiatives, and possess excellent verbal communication skills
Completes personal training and supports others training as required
Use computer based programs to track work, time and inventories.
Perform basic housekeeping tasks in support of housekeeping initiatives; keeps work area clean and free from clutter and debris.
The Skills You Will Bring:
Some manufacturing maintenance experience is preferred in several of the following areas: Mechanical, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electrical, Electronics, PLC's, Machining, Welding, Power transmission, Steam, Boiler systems, Lubrication, Prints and manuals, Preventive maintenance, Predictive maintenance
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and components (three-phase power, PLCs, AC/DC motors and drives, controls, etc.) and the ability to safely work on these systems
Must possess excellent verbal communication skills, attendance and safety record with a demonstrated ability to follow directions
Trouble-shooting and solving problems
Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills
Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities
Obtain Boiler license after 6 months
Attend outside training related to maintenance
Applicant must be flexible to work any shift, overtime and weekends
Able to perform all task safely in accordance with company rules
Must provide own tools; specialty tools will be supplied
Ability to lift average weighted materials of up to 50lbs
Two (2) years of experience of maintenance experience in an industrial environment preferred
Performing other duties as assigned by supervision
Must pass the AON Hewitt test, a requirement for employment as a maintenance technician at International Paper.
