Position Title: Truck Driver 5
Pay Rate: $28.79/hr
Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time (5:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday – Friday)
Physical Location: 2015 Country Club Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006
The Job You Will Perform:
- Safely operate assigned vehicle along a designated route collecting recyclable materials from commercial customers in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT) regulations
- Assist with training process for new drivers
- Complete daily pre/post trip inspections, reporting any safety concerns
- Attend daily safety-tool box meetings
- Obtain daily work schedule, BOL’s
- Courteously interact with customers and dispatcher to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain communication throughout the day with dispatcher accommodating route changes as needed
- Ensure all pick-up, delivery and vehicle condition reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards, including cleaning and trash removal from cab of truck
- Drive as needed to cover team vacations and/or illness
- Perform other duties as assigned
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Valid Class A CDL (REQUIRED)
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have 2 to 3 years of verifiable Class A driving experience
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to read, speak and write enough English to converse with the general public, read signs and signals, respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Current DOT Medical card
- Air Brakes Endorsement
- Good time management skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Pride in reliability and working with a team
- Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to changes as needed
- Comfortable backing, maneuvering and parking a tractor trailer
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and criminal background check
- Must be familiar with state motor vehicle laws and DOT rules and regulations
- Must understand Van/truck specifications and account needs/details
- Must be able to operate tractor trailers and mobile lifts (Skid Steer) to run bale route pick up behind customer locations
- Must have flatbed experience and Forklift/MOFFETT Truck mounted forklift experience
- Must be trained and qualified to operate a Skid Steer/drop deck trailer
- Completes required routing through the use of all approved transportation vehicles (Box Van, Roll On-Roll Off, TTFU, Semi)
- Must be familiar with cargo loading procedures to assure proper distribution, location and security
- Must be able to check truck’s equipment and supplies to assure road worthiness
- Must be able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70 pounds
- Must be able to drive in a wide range of environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, rain, wind, snow, freezing temperatures, hot weather, etc.
- On-the-job success in safety, attendance & quality of work expected
- Ability to operate/monitor the following equipment: 53ft Semi-Rig, Box Van, Truck Trailer Forklift Unit (TTFU), Prowler Truck-Mounted Forklift, Moffett Truck Mounted Forklift, Forklift Bale Trucks, Roll On-Roll Off for Compactor Tubes and Drop Boxes
