Operations Maintenance Coordinator

 

Position Scope:

The OMC provides leadership and support to the Business Unit Manager, Area Process Managers and Maintenance Managers, First Line Leaders and operating crews to ensure continuity and efficiency of the operations and facilitate sound business decisions for the process areas. The Business Unit consists of hourly employees and salaried managers.  The OMC is the link between department production and maintenance units. They interact with mill operations, maintenance, and management personnel on a day-to-day basis while performing their duties.  This position works within Business Unit and reports to the Production Business Unit Manager (BUM).

 

Position Responsibilities:

The OMC will work closely with a variety of different areas throughout the mill including operations, maintenance, technical, and management.

  • Coordinate and communicate with shift supervisors, APM, and BUM
  • Fill in for APM vacancy when needed
  • Serve on a weekend duty team for the Business Unit
  • Organize and provide support for routine and annual outage plan development and execution
  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results
  • Complete safety audits to ensure internal and external resources are complying with safe work practices and permitting requirements
  • Report and communicate safety and performance measurements against objectives
  • Lead the BU MWS team and drive effective, efficient maintenance execution for the department.
  • Conduct daily and weekly scheduling meetings as outlined in the workflow process
  • Deliver quality or better pacesetter level effectiveness from the MWS team
  • Participate as a member of a business unit; maintain strong relationships with other business unit personnel as well as operating and maintenance department leaders
  • Work with department operations and maintenance managers to prioritize maintenance work and communicate needs back through the maintenance organization
  • Understand and have working knowledge of the Orange Book requirements with regards to prioritizing maintenance work on routine and annual outages
  • Support the maintenance planner in detailed planning for daily, weekly and shutdown process
  • Utilize the management of change (MOC) process appropriately
  • Provide direct support for and participation in the mill’s structured cost reduction efforts/teams
  • Lead and deliver results through GMS based processes and systems
  • Manage the reliable operation of the Business Unit
  • Enforce corrective actions to address problems
  • Actively use and improve upon existing systems for managing daily operations, including development of standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Initiate and facilitate problem solving through trouble-cause-correction processes (TCC)
  • Understand and promote Manufacturing Excellence (ME) tools and processes; participate and lead ME improvement initiatives in the department
  • Support 5S program for the area and drive improvement projects, audit systems, and excellent results
  • Provide support for capital project development and implementation
  • Implement systems to improve/sustain results
  • Provide support for budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year over year savings
  • Facilitate the implementation of new procedures and controls required by the change in facilities, products, and corporate policies and procedures

Required Experience:

 FLL management experience preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience is preferred.  Must be experienced using a computer and skilled in word processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), SAP business systems, and other databases.
