Pay Rate:

$112,000 - $137,000 - commensurate with experience

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Mill (CCF), located in Columbus, Mississippi.  CCF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business.  We are a converting operation that produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals and photographic-based papers.

 

The Job You Will Perform:
The successful candidate will be accountable for managing all aspects of secondary fiber and shipping activities for the facility.  The individual will focus on logistics, transportation, quality systems, and customer relations while also supporting other areas of the manufacturing process.  The position reports to the Business Unit Manager – Pulp Machine.

 

Responsibilities
The key responsibilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.

  • Leads and directs daily activities of the shipping department, including productivity, quality, service, and on-time delivery in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring customer requirements and organization goals are achieved.
  • Ensures all work is performed in a safe, clean, productive environment. Promotes safety and housekeeping by following established safety rules and procedures.
  • Manages and coordinates daily activities for all shifts in the shipping department.
  • Works closely with customer service department, production planning, finishing, accounting and sales to ensure full customer satisfaction.
    • Manages all warehouse space to best service of our customers
    • Manages Returned Goods process
    • Manages the receiving process
    • Manages inventory with the assistance of the sales team in customer locations
    • Works closely with customer service to maintain integrity specific to shipping bill of lading process
  • Ensures that trucks are scheduled to the best efficiency, keeping in mind freight costs and ship to locations when coordinating the preparation of the daily shipping schedule.
    • Schedules deliveries 24 hours/per day seven days a week per customer demands.
  • Organizes teams to guarantee loads are checked for correct quantities, weight, and quality of loads.
  • Guarantees that lift drivers maintain up to date training, coaches and facilitates the shipping team for better efficiency.
  • Maintains the integrity of finished goods inventory inside the facility and in outside warehouses.  Works closely with accounting and customer service to ensure accuracy of data.  Responsible for tracking inventory.
  • Act as site coordinator for PPR and other critical business software for quality, warehouse management, and logistics
  • Coordinate customer interaction with the mill including, resolution of quality issues, changes in quality specification, and site visits
  • Ensure area fulfills specific 5S expectations

Physical Demands/Working Environment

  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Heat in excess of 100°F occasionally.
  • Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.
  • Carrying:  Periodically tools and equipment.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders and into railcars and trucks
  • Ability to work on concrete, and periodically  move equipment/tools weighing up to 50lbs

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applied science, engineering, logistics, business, or relevant field
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in warehouse, quality, and logistics systems
