CMF Entry Level Production Technician
Pay Rate:
$21.83/hour
Category/Shift:
Hourly Full-Time (12-hour rotating shift)
Rotating 12 hour shifts are 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am on a 28 day rotation swinging from nights to days weekly – 36 hours one week, 48 the next week (8 hours built in OT every check). A total of 7 DAY shifts, 7 NIGHT shifts, and 14 OFF shifts every 28 days.

The Job You Will Perform:
This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Modified Fiber Plant (CMF), located in Columbus, Mississippi. CMF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business. We are a converting operation that produces specialty fibers used in the production of diapers, filtration products, and other absorbent personal care products.
Successful candidates must have a desire and ability to work as a multi-skilled technician in a continuous process industry. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to safety, and successfully complete a rigorous assessment process.
The Skills You Will Bring:
Required:
- Must be at least age 18
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required
- Excellent safety experience
- Able to wear required safety equipment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work a rotating shift schedule including:
- Days & Nights
- Holidays
- Weekends
- Able to work overtime
- Able to work safely around moving manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Able to qualify to operate mobile equipment (including overhead cranes)
- Able to work in a team-based system (flexible – can rotate tasks)
- Basic Math Skills
- Measurable Mechanical Aptitude
- Basic Computer Skills
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Physical, Dexterity, and Strength Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Able to lift/handle 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to lift 2 – 20 pounds regularly
- Able to climb steps and ladders
- Able to enter small vessels
- Able to work from heights
- Able to turn large valves
- Able to stand or walk for 2 – 3 hours at a time for 10 – 12 hours
- Able to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold)
- Able to work in a noisy environment while wearing hearing protection
Preferred:
- Advanced education preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills a plus
- Prior experience with shift work a plus
- Prefer 2+ years manufacturing and/or military experience
- Prefer 2+ years of recent steady employment
- Demonstrated success in an advanced work system
- Demonstrated computer functionality
- Competency with Microsoft Office Software
