Maintenance Technician - starting rate $21/hr + sign on bonus

Maintenance Technician starting at $21/hr


International Paper in Conway, Arkansas is a Litho-Lam facility that produces corrugated containers. The Conway IP Team is looking to fill full-time maintenance technician positions for all three shifts.   

The facility operates in 3 shifts.  

Maintenance Shifts:

  • 1st shift (5am - 1pm)
  • 2nd shift (1pm - 9pm)
  • 3rd shift (9pm - 5 am)


Current production and customer demands require the facility to work Monday – Saturday, with two (2) Saturdays on and one (1) Saturday off.

Candidates will be placed into the shift based on business.  Due to production and customer demands, the Maintenance department will transition to a 24/7 shift in November 2021.  The 24/7 shift will be straight days or straight nights working three (3) days one (1) week and four (4) days the next week.

Hourly rate starts at $21.00, leading up to $30.00 dependent on knowledge and qualifications.  Shift differential is added for 2nd & 3rd shifts.


Maintenance technicians are instrumental in maintaining the facility's equipment and following the company’s safety policies, including, but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and machine guarding.  This multi-craft position applies skills and knowledge to achieve machine uptime metrics in our continuous process manufacturing environment.


Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Utilize excellent mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication, etc.) to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in a safe and timely manner
  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical systems and components (three-phase powe, PLCs, AC/DC motors and drives, controls, etc.) and the ability to safely work on these systems
  • Able to use a meter to perform basic electrical checks (voltage, resistance, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and drawings
  • Must provide own basic hand tools
  • Work positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Engage in preventive maintenance processes in assigned areas
  • On-the-job success in safety, attendance and quality of work
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to fully cross-train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities
  • Willing and able to work flexible shifts and weekends are required
  • Able to work with computer system for maintenance processes and work orders

  • Two (2) years of experience of maintenance experience in an industrial environment preferred
  • Candidate must have technical skills in all disciplines of industrial maintenance
  • Candidate must pass mechanical qualifications test, structured panel interview, criminal background check and physical/drug screen testing
  • Obtain Boiler license within six (6) months of hiring
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing preferred
  • A stable work history preferred
  • Experience in corrugated industry is a plus
