Production Lead

The Production Lead Will assist the Plant Superintendent in leading the activities of the plant production department by working with hourly employee's to obtain the highest quality and productivity in a safe and efficient manner.  Strong emphasis on:  safety, Planning and scheduling work, machine productiy and working with all other departments to meet customer expectations.  Responsible for day-to-day employee relations, training, coaching, setting of expectation, and proper administrative reporting.  Reports directly to the Plant Superintendent and works under their direction.  This position requires a person with a strong work ethic capable of leading processes independently.  The Production Lead will observe and monitor crews to ensure they safely make a quality box and perform their duties as required to meet production goals.



  • Ability to assign and coordinate daily plant activities, to include the following: Assign employees to jobs, attend production meetings and give updates to Shipping and Customer Service.
  • Able and willing to perform and sustain productivity goals (pieces/hour, set up times, down time, MSF produced, etc.)
  • Expected to follow up with coworkers throughout the day on productions assignments, progress, quality issues, safety, etc.
  • Provide daily feedback to supervisor regarding all aspects of shift/machine activity.  Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors, managers, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with Customer Service on any order issues.
  • Ability to interpret and understand customer order specs
  • Must have good computer skills (data entry, etc.) and be able to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must comply with all IPs Safety rules and Quality policies and protocols at all times, Must follow all safety rules and procedures; watch out for self and team member’s safety at all times
  • Ability to lead a shift for an extended period of time (one week or longer) without direct supervision and little input from management.
  • Ability to act as a leadership resource to provide support and advice on various plant initiatives, i.e. new machine installs
  • Ability to understand and accurately utilize HRMS for production and end-of-shift reporting
  • Perform toolbox meetings.
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Must be available to work overtime and be willing to work split shift if/when a 2nd shift is needed
  • Ability to problem solve on the production floor, make judgement calls on box and sheet quality and reject materials if needed.
  • Follow IP Manufacturing Reliability System and ensure crew implementation
  • Support customer quality issue investigations and Dothan corrective actions
  • Fill out 2 SWOs daily and collect SWO’s filled out by employees.
  • Train employees on HRMS
  • Act as Operator or Asst. Operator and run machines if needed, i.e. to cover vacations or unexpected call-ins
  • Monitor ink inventory and place orders as needed



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience required, and candidate must have satisfactory working knowledge of all machines in the facility
  • 1 year of Previous manufacturing leadership preferred
