Position Title: HSE Manager
Pay Rate: $69,500 - $92,600
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

SUMMARY
The HSE Manager reports directly to the General Manager and works to plan, direct, and implement environmental, health and safety programs to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment and is responsible for the compliance with all environmental and safety regulatory agencies.
The Job you will Perform:
- Responsible for leading systems, processes and procedures that promote a positive safety culture, which results in an injury free and healthy workplace. Collaborate with local leadership to execute on all local, state, and federal regulatory HSE requirements and Company HSE programs.
- Be a safety leader on the plant floor as well as in the front office to ensure all employees know, understand and execute safe work practices
- Responsible for plant-wide HSE communications:
- Verbal and written communications with employees
- Schedule, prepare agendas & lead discussions in Safety Committee meetings
- Prepare and provide info at plant-wide meetings
- Participate and represent facility on Area HSE calls
- Ensure corporate and Area communications are shared throughout facility
- Update and follow-up on HSE Bi-Weekly team meeting findings
- Responsible for plant-wide HSE Training
- Prepare and present HSE topics at New Hire Orientations
- Prepare, present and track HSE training for employees
- Ensure makeup training is completed in a timely manner
- Ensure supervisors are delivering training to employees
- Coordinate and execute training outside of IP programs (PIT Driver training, CPR, Fire Extinguisher use, etc.)
- Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and executing annual hearing testing
- Responsible for collaboration at all levels to achieve HSE objectives
- Work with the Lead Team to develop site-specific annual objectives for safety (example: SIFs), environmental, industrial hygiene and worker's compensation improvements
- Work with Area and local HSE leaders
- Work with Plant Leadership to develop and implement local strategies, policies, and services
- Lead local efforts around key Company HSE initiatives:
- DEKRA & SafeAlign
- Contractor Compliance (IPCC)
- Key Element Surveys
- Environmental Compliance audits
- Energy Control Program (ECP), etc.
- Truck Driver Safety
- Lead all aspects of HSE related regulatory requirements
- Maintain files, environmental permits, inspections, certifications and submissions (VOC, waste water, storm water, cyclone, silo, Tier II, DMR's, Air, etc)
- Know or quickly learn Texas & El Paso regulatory requirements in the areas of Storm Water, Wastewater, Air Quality, Hazardous Waste, etc.
- Manage regulatory agency, third party audits, inspections, inquiries, contacts and reporting
- Plans and implements procedures, programs, and files regulatory reports in compliance with the local, state, and federal agencies.
- Lead incident investigations, complete investigation files, develop corrective action plans and manage worker's compensation process from origin to closure
- Assist in development with Contractor work plans and monitor compliance
- Proactive facility oversight and hazard recognition (safety audits) to detect existing or potential incidents and health hazards. Work with team to develop corrective and preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
The Skills you will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree (equivalent experience in HSE) in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of HSE experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of HSE compliance and regulatory requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and training
- Aptitude for organization, prioritization and managing multiple work streams
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment to accomplish HSE objectives
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to be on call or work off hours on occasion
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail
- Superior analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications
- Experience working with state/local regulatory agencies preferred
- Minimal travel to offsite training, meetings and intracompany audits
