EMEA Ethics & Compliance Senior Counsel

 Brussels HQ


Based at our EMEA Headquarter in Brussels,  the Ethics & Compliance Senior Counsel is responsible for managing IP’s corporate compliance program in EMEA and serves as first point of contact for all EMEA compliance-related issues.



You will be responsible for:



  • Embracing and fostering the IP Way Forward in all your interactions
  • Promoting the Company’s Core Values
  • Implementing the Ethics Program Developed by the Global Ethics and Compliance Office within EMEA, consulting with regional business leaders
  • Deploying compliance policies and procedures and developing region specific policies/procedures based on applicable laws, regulations, rules, guidance and industry standards
  • Conducting internal investigations as directed by the Chief/Deputy Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, coordinating with other departments as needed and providing recommendations regarding the appropriate resolution.
  • Supporting IP’s HelpLine Process
  • Ensuring EMEA compliance with GDPR, implementing privacy policies and procedures and overseeing the Company’s response to data breach allegations, and acting as a point of contact for data protection authorities
  • Acting as a point of contact for data protection authorities and conducts risk assessments related to privacy regulation compliance
  • Conducting periodic risk assessment to identify gaps in the Company’s regional compliance program. Prioritizing region-specific risks and developing strategies to address gaps, including monitoring procedures.
  • Implementing the Global Ethics and Compliance Office training modules within the region and conducting any region-specific training to enhance the global training program’s effectiveness.
  • Coordinating any regional compliance committee activity and communicating committee recommendations to the global ethics and compliance office.
  • Developing and conducting compliance training programs including antitrust and anticorruption, monitoring the effectiveness of these programs and implementing enhancements as required.
  • Developing and Implementing monitoring and reporting procedures to ensure that local and regional management, along with the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, has sufficient knowledge of the current state of compliance within the region
  • Monitoring Regional Antitrust, anti-corruption and data privacy regulations, providing regular updates to the Global Ethics and Compliance Office as well as recommending changes to the internal guidelines, policies, procedures and training program when appropriate.
  • Developing and deploying a plan for region specific policies development, SOPs, guidance etc. based on prioritized needs in coordination with global compliance and other functions
  • Interacting with business units and potential business partners in conducting compliance due diligence on business partners and acquisition candidates.



You have:



  • University Degree in Law
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience in EMEA (multinational or equivalent company). You experience includes corporate compliance and ethics, or compliance related areas.
  • Specific Experience in a wide range of corporate compliance topics such as antitrust, anti-corruption, fraud prevention, trade restrictions and embargoes, data privacy laws etc.
  • Proven track record in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to build effective relationships and networks
  • Knowledge of other European languages besides English
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
