Maintenance Technician

This position is responsible to Plant Management for the day-to-day safe operation of the Maintenance Department and the equipment in the plant.  The Maintenance Technician is able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the mechanical and electrical functions of all equipment, and displays a working knowledge of trouble-shooting. 

  • Understands basic principles of corrugated, printing, and gluing.  Technician is capable of determining the need for contract Maintenance and coordinating through others. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all production line equipment. Able to conduct preventative maintenance responsibilities, to insure the most efficient machine operation possible. 
  • Responsible for assisting in run rate improvements, quality improvements and downtime elimination at all machine centers. 
  • Knowledge of AC & DC drives. 
  • Must know how to use various meters (volt/amp, ohms), troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems on packaging equipment, as well as be able to read electrical diagrams.
  • Must know ARC-flash regulations.
  • Strong ability to trouble shoot electrical issues.
  • Should have mechanical aptitude and an outstanding working knowledge for trouble-shooting mechanical problems.  Ability to maintain and repair equipment unsupervised.
  • Repair pumps and motors. 
  • Responsible for researching, ordering and installing parts, supplies, etc.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate parts.
  • Assist in installation of plant equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Willingly works weekends and fills in when needed.

Electrical experience in high-speed industrial manufacturing environment preferred.   Operate forklift and aerial lift.  Will need computer skills with ability to learn all aspects of SAP functionality. Maintain records.  Observe Lock-out/Tag-out procedure as required.  Observe confined space entry procedure.  Use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.  Must have excellent housekeeping, people, and team skills.   

Follow policies and procedures in Safety & Environment.

Candidates must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Candidates must be willing to work daily and weekend overtime, as required. 

 

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent work experience
  • A mix of mechanical and electrical skills
  • Must pass a pre-employment testing assessment including the AON technical maintenance test  
  • Drug screen, health assessment, background and reference check
  • Highly qualified candidates will have previous experience in the paper industry or other manufacturing fields.
  • External maintenance certification a plus

Work Context:  Frequent walking, standing and bending, occasional sitting, pushing and pulling.  Potential exposure to sounds/noise levels and dust.
