Summary:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for playing a lead role in a variety of non-routine clerical/accounting functions, in accordance with standard procedures. Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity.  Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity. Applies advanced skills, supports the accounting department in performing daily accounting duties and acts as a liaison for accounting to ensure financial integrity of the plant.

 

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Perform daily financial activities such as reconciliation of sales, freight, receiving and inventories.
  • Process payroll weekly.
  • Manage accounts payable through 3-way match reviews.  Work with vendors and other internal team members to clear invoicing blocks.  Also performs weekly reviews of AP reports and works to correct PO and invoicing deficiencies as needed.
  • Review inventory ledgers to ensure inventory levels and costs are accurately stated.
  • Perform month end close activities such as booking journal entries to accrue freight and payables, clear intercompany, book consumption of raw materials and other entries as needed. Also performs duties essential to general ledger reconciliation and provides analysis in areas such as freight, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Develop, manage and evolve standard processes to support management and the needs of the business.
  • Manage and maintain spreadsheets used for logs, tracking, analysis, and all other purposes as they relate to areas of responsibility. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities and reports. 
  • Perform routine daily, weekly and monthly financial reviews for management team.
  • Support informational needs as they relate to areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and uphold conformance to internal control systems for self and all others.
  • Participate in plant improvement teams as assigned.
  • Fill in for other members of the Finance Department as needed.
  • Perform routine clerical and office duties such as records retention, telephone, electronic and in-person communications, managing and ordering office supplies and other light duties as needed.
  • Assist with capital projects and all other accounting duties and assigned plant projects as needed.

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Two to three years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to build good professional rapport with internal and external customers through listening, and verbal, electronic and telephone communications.
  • Attention to and ability to handle details accurately.
  • MUST be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.  Must be able to create, develop and sustain spreadsheets and formulas.  The ideal Candidate must also be able to use Microsoft Outlook including Microsoft Teams and WebEx.
  • Experience with SAP is a MUST.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
  • Able to remain flexible, adapt situationally, provide leadership or follow instructions, be self-supervised and work independently.
  • Enthusiastic, customer-focused, self-motivated, and innovative.
  • Open minded – ability to accept and work through change.

  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM and overtime as needed.
