The Job You Will Perform:

 

Emergency Response Team Coordinator – 65%

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the mill Emergency Response and Risk Management programs while adhering to company expectations and applicable legislation.
  • Participate in outage and project planning for emergency response resourcing and support.
  • Manage Emergency Response Team (ERT) rosters, skill development, and training, including training content, scheduling, and course delivery and training record retention.
  • Manage the local Emergency Response Plan, including facilitating training, practice drills, capturing lessons learned and regular updates.
  • Manage financial aspects of the Emergency Response Team including capital resource plan, retirement plans of assets, and annual budgeting.
  • Inspect and maintain the inventory of ERT equipment and supplies.
  • Manage emergency response related equipment inventory and assurance of inspection programs such as fire extinguishers, Automated External Defibrillators, and hose stations.
  • Support and respond to site emergencies including but not limited to fires, technical rescue, hazmat and medical responses.
  • Support ERT recruitment and actively promote ERT mill communications.
  • Schedule inspections, testing and replacement of SCBA and fire equipment.
  • Remain current with industry skills, education and practices involving Fire, Technical Rescue and Medical Response.
  • Develop emergency response SOPs/SOGs, training of those expectations, and chair post-event de-briefings.
  • Develop and/or support the development of rescue plans (confined space and working at height) and confined space ventilation plans.

Risk Management Liaison – 20%

  • Liaise with the internal and external key stakeholders such as the insurance provider and local fire authorities.
  • Assess risk related to emergency response and fire protection and develop contingency plans.

Safety Leader – 15%

  • Participate in the EHS team weekend on call rotation, approximately every 8 weeks.
  • Maintain visibility and actively engage with all levels of the organization around emergency response needs.
  • Attend operational meetings regularly
  • Lead fire investigations, share incident learnings, develop, and execute corrective action planning.

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Fire Protection, Fire, Rescue, Medical and Hazmat response
  • 5+ years’ experience as an Emergency Responder
  • 5+ years’ experience in emergency program development
  • Experience as an Emergency Response Team member in an industrial setting is an asset
  • NFPA 1001 Level 1 and Level 2 certified
  • NFPA 1006 certified is an asset
  • Advanced First Aid training is an asset
  • ICS 200 or ISC 300 is an asset
  • Recognized as a strong safety leader
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn new computer programs and systems
  • Action Oriented, Drive for results, Time management, Problem solving, Trust and integrity, Dealing with ambiguity, Functional / technical skills, Facilitator
