The Job You Will Perform:

 

The Front Line Leader - Fiberline at International Paper’s Grande Prairie Mill will be responsible for safely and efficiently utilizing operations, maintenance and support resources to maximize the performance of the wood processing and pulping and bleaching areas.  The leader is also responsible for product quality, schedule adherence, safety, training, staffing, engagement and overall shift performance.

 

This position follows a compressed work week. Position Level depends upon experience and qualifications.

 

This position reports to the Fiberline Team in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.  The Grande Prairie mill is a 1000+ tonne per day Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill.  It currently operates with approximately 400 mill employees in a high performance, results oriented environment.

 

Key Functions

 

  • Role model safety behavior and intervene to maintain an injury free workplace
  • Provide on-shift leadership in safety, environment, quality and production
  • Utilize performance centerlines, monitor inputs/outputs and implement action plans for optimized production and continual improvement
  • Evaluate employee performance through review of completed work assignments, techniques, and tasks
  • Work with the Department Learning Leader to promote staff development and training needs
  • Coach employees and set expectations to accomplish Department and Mill goals
  • Conduct effective one-to-one discussions twice per year for one shift of Employees
  • Utilize the SAP work order system coordinating maintenance planned and unplanned outages
  • Monitor and approve hourly team member’s schedule and work time through Work Brain
  • Coordinate activities through scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing the work crews
  • Lead safety investigations and performance management
  • Flow to work to meet business needs

 

Note: Some overtime is required

 

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma with equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field preferred
  • Work experience in a Pulp/Paper mill with area process knowledge is an asset
