C Machine Operator

Finishing Machine Operator duties/responsibilities include:

            -  following all safety rules and practices;

            -  learning customer requirements and specifications by reading factory work orders, print cards, and design specifications;

            -  directing the activities of other machine crew members to efficiently set up and run orders;

            -  maintaining quality and production standards as required by the company;

            -  performing reporting functions; including entering data into plant and/or equipment computers, and filling out quality certificates, checklists, and/or other required paperwork;

            -  setting and adjusting the prefeeder and feed sections of the machine;

            -  working with printing inks; including installing inks, checking and maintaining proper pH and viscosity levels, verifying colors against standards, removing inks, and washing print stations;

            -  working with printing plates and pull straps; including obtaining and installing plates, removing and asiding plates, washing plates during runs, and washing plates at the ends of runs and shifts;

            -  setting and adjusting the slotting, scoring, and/or die cutting sections of the machine;

            -  adjusting impression and register (both through and across machine) settings on all stations;

            -  setting and adjusting the folding section of the machine and the glue application system

            -  performing minor cutting die repairs;

            -  continually monitoring the quality and quantity of production;

            -  solving quality and production problems;

            -  informing the supervisor of safety items and maintenance needs;

            -  maintaining teamwork within the machine crew and with all other associates;

            -  following prescribed practices in all circumstances;

            -  performing other duties as assigned by supervision.


Finishing Machine operators report to converting supervisors.




The qualifications for Machine Operators are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler; the ability to use basic shop math; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team. A high school diploma (or GED) is required. One to two years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required. Experience in the corrugated or converting industry, (previous Flexo/Die Cutter experience) is preferred.
