Pay Rate:

$86,800 – $122,000

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

Purpose:

 

The On-Shift Front Line Leader is responsible for team performance, team member engagement, and achieving manufacturing results on a shift-to-shift basis. Must provide leadership and support within a high performance work system to all facets of the manufacturing process while on shift and support/exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper - Henderson Mill.

 

The Job You Will Perform:

The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.

 

  • Supports and leads efforts at Henderson that include an injury-free environment through role modeling safe behavior, active involvement in safety activities and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Completes the First Line Leader (FLL) Onboarding/Proficiency Curriculum and IP Safety Leadership Certification
  • Coordinates and leads efforts to support high performance work teams.
  • Leadership role in ensuring team member relations, efforts, and processes are in place to maximize team member engagement and results.
  • Leads, provides guidance, and supports teams as needed to achieve team goals, daily responsibilities, and overall achievement of mill goals.
  • Manages daily shift operations of the Paper Machine, OCC, Winder and Warehouse areas with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Active shift leader, responsible for short-term (shift-to-shift) mill performance and long-term performance of teams.
  • Provides feedback, coaching, support and, when necessary, take corrective measures, to ensure all team members have a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
  • Provides coaching and training to team members as needed for technical, behavioral, and individual development opportunities.
  • Ensures proper staffing of team in order to meet shift performance goals
  • Communicates as needed with team members and mill leadership for resolution of safety, quality, cost, production, and personnel issues.
  • Communicates and leads the application of facility policies and standards.
  • Facilitates the shift’s formal team member evaluation process during NHI.
  • Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
  • Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
  • Develops cross-functional process skills across the team.
  • Positive, upbeat attitude that instills confidence in personal leadership ability.
  • Fulfill area specific 5S expectations (5 Minute 5S Checklists Replenishment of tools and supplies, 5S Audits, etc.)

 

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

 

  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Noise levels in excess of 90 dB.
  • Heat in excess of 100F occasionally.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
  • Walking: Within immediate area and up and down several floors.
  • Carrying: Periodically tools and equipment.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders and onto tanks and other vessels

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

 

  • College degree preferred, or 3 years of previous leadership experience
  • Demonstrated and successful leadership ability in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of and leadership in manufacturing safety practices.
  • Effectively model the Henderson Foundation Document principles
  • Must have a high level of integrity, energy, and leadership ability to develop and lead others.
  • Demonstrated and successful ability to lead and continuously improve team performance in order to work injury-free, provide a quality product, and achieve world class productivity in support of a high performance work system.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with proven ability to provide positive feedback, coaching for improvement, and take corrective measures as appropriate.
  • Strong computer skills required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safety Leadership Certified
  • Excellent skills in organizing, planning, priority setting, and time management, with proven ability to adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate problem solving or conflict resolution processes
