 The Job You Will Perform:

International Paper is currently recruiting a Lead Maintenance Technician at our converting location Lexington, South Carolina.  Our Lead Maintenance technicians are responsible for safely providing maintenance support to their respective corrugated manufacturing facility. Successful candidates are expected to utilize both mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication) and electrical/electronic skills and knowledge (PLCs, A/C, D/C motors and drives, schematics) in our continuous process manufacturing environment to achieve machine uptime metrics. They will also work with operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems and they will be engaged in preventative maintenance processes through- out the entire plant.   This position will be assigned to various shifts as needed for shop performance.

  • Following all safety rules and practices
  • Performing and training other technicians routine maintenance tasks and preventive maintenance activities
  • Ensuring mechanics have proper tooling and equipment for upcoming jobs
  • Contacting and working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results
  • Acting as a back-up maintenance supervisor as needed
  • Trouble-shooting and solving problems
  • Maintaining teamwork with other associates
  • Keeping supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervision
  • Assist with leading weekly maintenance priority meeting
  • Managing work order system utilizing SAP
  • Promote and train Machine champion process

 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical degree preferred.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • The ability to plan/schedule in coordination with production and maintenance teams.
  • 5 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment with maintenance exposure.
  • Ability and interest to advance into a maintenance leadership role.
  • Successful candidates are expected to utilize both mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge.
  • On-the-job success in safety, attendance and quality of work expected.
  • Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities.
  • Willing and able to work any shift, call-ins, holidays, and overtime as there is a constant demand for overtime in our maintenance departments.
