The Job You Will Perform:
Master planning is a critical function in North American Packaging Solutions, with responsibility for optimizing the supply/demand balance and minimizing cost across the containerboard supply chain. The Containerboard Master Planner will utilize strong analytical skills, knowledge of information systems and data sources, and experience in one or more supply chain functions to identify improvement opportunities and to develop new tools and reporting to drive results and process efficiency. This role will need to recognize the impact of changes across a complex and dynamic network which includes 15 paper mills, trade partners, purchase contracts, distribution centers, external customers, and more than 140 box and converting plants.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and utilize data analytics and reporting tools to proactively identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement across the containerboard supply chain.
- Identify and create new decision support tools and processes to facilitate cross-functional collaboration on required demand moves.
- Research/analyze and recommend potential sourcing changes to optimize profit, minimize trim loss, maintain mill mode balance, and facilitate timely transportation execution.
- Partner with lead master planner on execution of the monthly Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP) rough-cut process.
- Communicate across cross-functional teams on daily activities, issues, and concerns affecting supply chain processes.
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly system balancing and mass moves execution.
- Maintain the NAPS mill network design through management of transportation lanes (for MTS), preferred ship-from lanes (MTO), and multi-level planning.
- Provide systematic restriction management for Containerboard. Monitor demand requests against restrictions to ensure customer requirements are met.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and manipulate data using the master planning tool, SAP, and various other information sources and tools.
- Self-starter, willing to take on tasks and develop/implement required processes.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling processes with experience in supply planning, replenishment planning, or transportation planning.
- Thorough understanding of integrated supply chain concepts and in-depth knowledge of the supply chain operating model end-to-end processes.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Containerboard business acumen.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
