$75,800 - $101,000 

Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Incentive pay provides additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short-term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:  

The Logistics Specialist supports the development and execution of International Paper’s supply chain strategy by enabling cost-effective and service-focused logistics solutions. Operating as an intermediary between tactical execution and strategic improvement, this role leverages operational knowledge and growing analytical expertise to monitor performance, uncover inefficiencies, and drive actionable improvements. Logistics Specialists I play a key role in aligning logistics strategy with manufacturing operations, sourcing, and commercial teams—ensuring that customer requirements are consistently met at an optimized cost. 

 

This position will be responsible for the following:  

  • Monitor and analyze supply chain performance for assigned mills to identify cost, service, or process optimization opportunities  

  • Support the development and refinement of logistics strategies that enhance customer experience and reduce distribution spend  

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations planning to evaluate product flow, drive execution-based decisions, and support mill-level improvement efforts  

  • Coordinate with sourcing teams to understand modal rate structures and ensure accurate cost visibility  

  • Contribute to cost-to-serve (CTS) analysis by providing foundational insights that support commercial decision-making  

  • Participate in and lead localized non-price improvement (NPI) projects focused on driving measurable supply chain efficiencies  

  • Utilize internal data tools and reporting systems to surface trends, track metrics, and inform business decisions  

  • Engage with commercial, operations planning, and transportation partners to ensure alignment on service expectations and logistics capabilities  

  • Provide informal leadership by guiding cross-functional project teams and coordinating work across stakeholder groups  

  • Develop a working knowledge of network design principles and logistics strategy, progressing toward broader strategic ownership over time 

 

The Skills You Will Bring:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field required; advanced degree or relevant certification a plus  

  • 3 years' experience in Supply Chain, logistics, transportation, or manufacturing  

  • Understanding of transportation rate structures, cost-to-serve principles, and network tradeoffs 

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and customer fulfillment processes 

  • Familiarity with cost-to-serve principles and transportation rate structures across major modes 

  • Proficiency in supply chain data tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends  

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels  

  • Experience leading small-scale projects or workstreams, with growing capability in influencing outcomes across teams 

  • Exposure to SAP or other ERP systems
