Capital Project Engineers or Managers, Maintenance Planners, Front Line Leaders, and Health & Safety Professionals
at Multiple U.S. Pulp & Paper Manufacturing Sites

Our pulp & paper mills are complex facilities that sustainably convert trees and/or recycled fiber into products, such as packaging, boxes, and fluff pulp for hygiene and other products. Hundreds of interrelated mechanical, electrical, and chemical unit processes provide unlimited opportunities to utilize a combination of technical and people skills.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Roles reside at specific pulp & paper mills across U.S., located primarily, but not limited to rural, southeastern & southern U.S.
  • Initial 18 to 36 months include active participation in world-class training & development program, combining virtual, hands-on, and face-to-face training and networking opportunities.
  • Work safely and be a safety leader in whatever job you hold.
  • Specific responsibilities vary by location & role. Examples may include:
    • Data analysis
    • Machine reliability
    • Coordinate aspects of shutdowns and start-ups for mill
    • Cost-reduction efforts for procedures, processes, etc. in mill setting
    • Project coordination / management
    • Training development for operators
    • Manufacturing process optimization
    • Working collaboratively with engineers, operators, contractors, interns/co-ops, managers, etc.

Key Challenges

  • Work with operators who have 20+ years of experience with the process and equipment
  • Learning the paper manufacturing process

Requirements

  • College degree in engineering (preferred majors: Chemical, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, or Paper Science) or safety-related majors (e.g., Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar majors). Potential college hires must provide current unofficial transcripts, with cumulative GPA of at least 2.8.
    OR
  • Equivalent military experience (E5-6+ military rating), especially in power, maintenance, reliability, heavy equipment operations, etc.
    And:
  • Strong desire to work in heavy manufacturing setting
  • Experience with heavy equipment, maintenance, manufacturing operations work experience highly preferred, possibly internship and/or co-op experience
  • High regard for safety in the workplace and active willingness to be a safety leader
  • Able to learn on the fly, adapt in a highly dynamic environment, and effectively cope with and manage change
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, results-driven individual who can also perform well in a team setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills & experience (e.g., internships/co-ops, jobs, military supervisory roles, organizations/clubs/associations, projects, etc.)
  • Comfort with all levels of employees, including peers, engineers, contractors, hourly operators, and management
  • Open to relocation now and in the future
