Recycling Business Accounting Process and Systems Manager

This position is in the Recycling Business of International Paper. We are one of the world's largest paper recyclers, managing more than 7 million tons of recovered paper based products every year.  We have recycling facilities throughout the United States. Recycled paper is used in our mills, with the balance sold domestically and worldwide.


The Recycling Business Accounting Process and Systems Manager is a lead finance role with scope across the entire business.  They direct the overall business financial accounting and internal control processes, transactions recording, and business information and analytics.  They ensure that policy, procedure, and controls are well defined, documented, and trained to accurately record business transactions with a high level of integrity.  Furthermore, they manage the establishment and compliance of Master Data standards and procedures, and business analytics.  They provide support to the Business Controller and Business VP-GM. In addition, this role will play project manager roles in key business accounting, and systems projects.


The Recycling Business Accounting Process and Systems Manager scope includes the entire business: The Recycling Plant system, the Brokerage business, the National Accounts business, Recovered Fiber Sourcing, and staff functions.  This position will report directly to the Business Controller.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the Business maintains accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and that business is transacted in compliance with established business and corporate policies, procedures, and practices to accurately record business transactions.
  • Manage and organize the current, and the development of new, Business standard work related to business procedures supporting our transactions and internal controls
  • Maintain working knowledge of business and corporate information technology systems and software applications in order to support the management of for the business
  • Manage the business Master Data Management governance to ensure consistency, integrity, and security of the Business’ data.
  • Manage Business Database structures and utilization to drive a high level of integrity and efficient use of Business Information
  • Working knowledge and application of the latest data analytical tools and reporting to develop “new-age” reporting and analytics for the business.
  • Business Project Manager in key accounting, internal controls, accounting systems, and reporting projects, and governance teams

  • Manufacturing Excellence (Lean and Six Sigma tools) a plus.


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum five years in an Accounting or Finance role with Reporting and Analytics focus
  • Experience with current analytical tools
  • Business accounting and controls experience 



  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
