Job Description:

The SAP Basis Analyst II position within SAP Basis is responsible for providing technical expertise to run International Paper’s SAP environment.  They will provide guidance and have a high level of knowledge across many of the SAP products used by IP including:  ERP 7.5, CRM 7.5, SCM 7.5, Ariba Integration, SAP Solution Manager, SAP Portals, SAP Gate Way, Business Objects, Data Services, BW on HANA and S4 HANA.  The database environment supported by Basis teams is Oracle on a Sun Solaris platform, HANA as Platform as Service on cloud and HANA on a Cisco Linux platform.  


The position requires general monitoring, support, and maintenance tasks for new & existing SAP systems.  This includes building, maintaining, and modifying the central basis network and infrastructure of SAP, including base SAP clients, instances, Application Integration work including SAML/SSO scenarios and IMG setups.  


The SAP Basis Non-Business Suite group is responsible for installing SAP products, monitoring and maintaining those products, upgrading and providing enhancements as required, participating in troubleshooting of SAP issues, and general performance, stability, availability, and recoverability of the SAP systems.  This position will work along with other SAP Basis team members to complete assignments related to all facets of SAP support. These tasks will include troubleshooting SAP problems, monitoring and configuring SAP systems for optimal performance, assisting in maintenance and release cycle tasks, and working with team members to complete tasks needed for various projects.  
Key customers for this group are all groups who use any SAP tool at IP including technical support groups, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, SAP development, Analytics BI and BW team as it relates to the other SAP Business Suite and Non-Business suite instances.  These customers are both domestic and international and continue to grow.

 

Critical job responsibilities among others include the following:

  • Technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming. 
  •  May do some programming.  
  • Acts independently under general direction.  
  • Provides technical leadership on complex projects. 
  •  May play the role of solution delivery manager or project manager.  
  • Formulates/defines system scope and objectives. 
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results.  
  • May be responsible for multiple phases of a project. 
  • May lead others and be responsible for instructing, directing and checking the work of other analysts.

SAP Basis Administration skills:

  • SAP installations

Additionally, these tasks may be performed:

  • Disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Database migrations and reorganizations
  • Advanced HANA and Oracle knowledge including but not limited to restore & recovery, parameter settings, SQL scripting

 

This position requires:

  •  A technical and/or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience   
  •  Knowledge of SAP ERP or other SAP NetWeaver products plus 2-4 additional SAP products (SAP Certifications preferred)
  •  5 or more years of experience in SAP Basis Administration or equivalent experience
  •  5 or more years of experience in a technical support role including 2+ years of advanced (level 3) support
  •  2 or more years of experience with Oracle database administration
  •  2 or more years of experience with HANA database administration
  •  2 or more years of experience in UNIX operating system skills
  •  2 or more years of experience in supporting Web/Internet technologies – SAP Portal, Business Objects preferred
  •  Knowledge of SAP monitoring techniques and tools 
  •  2 or more years of experience with Windows server operating system basics, Domain Controllers, Active Directory Sources
