Sr Accountant - Consolidations

Sr. Accountant- Consolidations

 

The Senior Accountant - Consolidations is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the International Paper global Consolidated Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows. The role will ensure the accurate elimination of intra/intercompany activity within four organizational structures and the proper and consistent classification of transactions for reporting in accordance with US GAAP.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the global Consolidated Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows close processes (including preparation of consolidation journal entries)
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements used for internal and external reporting
  • Prepare quarterly/annual footnote disclosures ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting regulations
  • Coordinate, review and compile balance sheet and income statement analyses used to prepare the consolidated statement of cash flows
  • Perform monthly consolidated balance sheet and cash flow analytical review including variance explanations
  • Perform selected balance sheet account reconciliations and analyses used in reporting
  • Assist with other close processes and reporting
  • Coordination of annual Corporate balance sheet review
  • Understanding and application of Accounting Standard and SEC reporting changes
  • Communication with and provide guidance to the business/staff groups and locations
  • Provide information to Senior Management, Corporate Tax Dept., Internal Audit and the external auditors
  • Continuous improvement of close and reporting processes
  • Other special projects as required

 

Scope:

The global Consolidated Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows and related disclosures are included in the external earnings release and quarterly/annual SEC filings.  In addition, they are used to measure the performance of our businesses and other internal reporting purposes.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience (public accounting preferred)
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting with practical application experience
  • Consolidation experience
  • SAP ECC (General Ledger) and BPC experience (or similar general ledger/consolidation system)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of reporting
