Global Sourcing Paralegal (Sylvamo)

“This position is currently located in the IP organization, assigned to the Sylvamo project, and will be transferred to the Sylvamo organization contingent upon the closing of the transaction estimated to occur 10/1/2021.”

 

 

PL Varies w/Experience

 

Provide support and guidance to in-house attorneys in the area of commercial business transactions. Position is responsible for drafting/preparing and reviewing documents, including procurement agreements and investigating, participating in development of matter strategy, coordinating and providing updates on active claims and litigation, and responding to other various legal matters.  Position acts as a primary liaison between legal and internal business clients, and external vendors including law firms.

 

 Key Accountabilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of an efficient and productive process for assessing, preparing, and finalizing commercial deals for the Global Sourcing/Global Supply Chain organization and managing complex vendor relationship issues.
  • Participate in the development of matter strategy and manage substantive areas that do not require legal advice.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including purchasing, service and other commercial contracts and documents.
  • Prioritize matter assignments with little direction from supervising attorney.
  • Prepare training materials.
  • Coordinate commercial agreements/strategy with business clients and supervising attorney.
  • Act as primary liaison and legal contact for business clients on commercial matters where appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and support to attorneys by drafting/preparing and reviewing commercial contracts and other related documents.
  • Make cost-effective decisions dealing with outside vendors to control spend.
  • Make recommendations on when work can be done in-house or sent outside.
  • Coordinate and provide updates on active claims and litigation.
  • Take a leadership role on departmental projects.

 

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Paralegal Studies or other
  • 7+ years legal experience in a paralegal position drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
