Purpose:
Position will act as a resource for all facets of day-to-day operations in the Utilities area, while designing systems to build long-term stability and reliability. The Utilities Technical Assistant will be heavily involved in a broad spectrum of areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and People. They must help manage the safety, environmental, people, operations, and reliability performance of the Utilities Department. The primary areas of focus for this role will be: Waste & Water, Recaust, and Lime Kiln, but this role will also support across Utilities.
The Job You Will Perform:
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company.
- All safety and environmental results for the Utilities Department (Waste & Water, Lime Kiln, and Recaust).
- Building, communicating, and executing consistent operating practices across all shifts.
- Developing and maintaining Operator engagement through communication, empowerment, and training.
- Assist in directing and leading the Crew Leaders with clear expectations and accountability.
- Investigating, resolving, and implementing process improvements.
- Interfacing with other departments to ensure quality parameters are achieved and maintained.
- Serving as operational support for reliability efforts, including MWS, Basic Care, IEPM, and RCFA.
- Serving as operational support for capital needs, including the development of FEL1 level of the Project Development Process (PDP).
- Providing support on project management and/or outage management during weekly/annual outages.
- Managing area costs and meeting budget.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
The Skills You Will Bring:
Minimum:
- 5 years’ experience in Waste & Water, Recaust and Lime Kiln.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate to groups and individuals at all levels.
Preferred:
- 5 years of prior Pulp and Paper Industry experience with a demonstrated record of safety commitment and results.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or a related field
