Maintenance Technician 3

Reports to:  

Plant Superintendent and/or Plant Manager

Salary:  $27.38/hr

Job Purpose

Safely and efficiently perform maintenance tasks to minimize unscheduled downtime.

Administer preventative maintenance scheduling while all safety policies are followed.


Umbrella responsibilities of all employees:

  • Assist and support implementation of EHS initiatives and strategies to reduce risk including but not limited to the areas of: OSHA, ergonomics, injury / illness reduction, hazard communication, environmental, emergency preparedness, and general employee safety
  • Supports LIFE areas, Safety Leading Indicators and Global Program Elements
  • Ensures a clean and safe work environment
  • Adhering to Plant policies and guidelines
  • Working safely and looking out for the safety of those around them
  • Following Safe Reliable Methods (SRMs) or Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) or Recycling Safety Verification Procedures (RSVPs)
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards
  • Attending and participating in Plant safety meetings.
  • Managing controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
  • Reporting any safety or maintenance concerns


Essential/Key Responsibilities and Functions of the Job

  • Diagnoses and Trouble shoots all equipment on site
  • Interacts regularly with supplier(s), including scheduling and assisting with pricing
  • Manages and conducts preventative maintenance program including 100% operator compliance, documenting and saving all files related to maintenance.
  • Perform root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions/failures, take required corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of such conditions (include operators in analysis as needed)
  • Perform welding and fabrication
  • Perform brick laying, laying concrete and experience in framing
  • Perform minor electrical tasks
  • Repair and maintain all dock levelers, scales, railings, tile, basic plumbing and cabinetry
  • Ensure all maintenance and Company compliance guidelines are followed
  • Ensure daily reports are accurately completed, submitted and/or inputted as required
  • Ensure maintenance housekeeping meets plant standards
  • Maintain adequate supply of pre-approved chemicals ensuring neat and orderly storage including proper labeling
  • Report safety concerns to management
  • Participate in safety and environmental audits
  • Requests PO’s through normal channels
  • Advises PS and GM on all current and upcoming maintenance needs and projects
  • Other duties as assigned


Personal Protective Equipment

  • Gloves, approved safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protection, hard hat, steel toed boots.

  • Baler
  • In-feed Conveyors
  • Forklifts
  • Shredder / Shredder Baler
  • Roll Splitter
  • Loader
  • Skid Steer


Tools used

  • Welder
  • Drill press
  • Electric power tools ( grinder, cordless drill )
  • Wrenches
  • Measuring tools
  • Air tools
  • Other maintenance tools and equipment

Training/Registration/License/Certification requirement

  • Forklift Certified
