Pay Rate:

$105,300 - $140,400

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:

To develop the major requirements for meeting project objectives, or to lead and coordinate the design and construction activities that will meet cost and process requirements for a project; or to coordinate the design, drawings, and specifications that will meet process and facility objective.   Support and exemplify the vision and principles of International Paper and the Orange Mill.  

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate and lead as appropriate in safety process improvement to ensure an injury free work site.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for assignments.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of specific process equipment.
  • Recommend procedures, alterations and modifications to extend the useful life and reliability of the assets.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues with equipment and causes of downtime and implement projects or procedures to eliminate them.
  • Manage all phases of projects, contractors, communication, scheduling, planning.
  • Communicate analysis to mill personnel; i.e., mill management, technicians, etc.
  • Provide sound project management for development, approval, planning and execution of a wide variety of projects from maintenance work orders to large capital projects.
  • Responsible to maintain, update and revise the engineering files and drawings.
  • Manage major projects that are engineered by contract engineering resources, including determining the appropriate engineering deliverables (design and documentation) for assigned projects and management of engineering contractor processes, procedures and workflow.
  • Overall management of the procurement process including bid analysis (commercial and technical), negotiation and awarding of work associated with the procurement of equipment and services, expediting, factory acceptance activities and resolving contract issues.
  • Lead the effort in process equipment application and innovation and make recommendations for process improvement in day-to-day and long-term performance.
  • Utilizes maintenance and financial software system to perform job functions for purchase requisitions and project cost accounting.
  • Coaches safety in others and leads by example.
  • Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
  • Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.

Qualifications include:

  • 5 plus years of pulp and paper experience preferred.
  • 10 years industrial experience.
  • BS Degree or higher in electrical engineering.
  • Self directed and driven individual
  • Advanced knowledge of the processes used in the paper industry, including equipment used in the process or complex industrial processes.
  • Understand the standard mill inspection routines, including safety considerations involved in each inspection.
  • Advanced knowledge of diversified technical processes and engineering principles/practices of related engineering activities.
  • Engineering experience in mill operations, capital projects, and/or related vendor manufacturing activities.
  • Familiarity with CAD or similar software.
  • Experience working in a quality focused environment
  • Knowledge of and leadership in paper mill safety practices.
  • Experienced in the use of SAP Plant Maintenance and Financial programs
  • Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in the following areas:

Capital project development and execution processes, safety, pulp and paper manufacturing processes, industrial regulatory requirements, reliability, project cost controls, portfolio management, strategic planning, startup / ramp up planning, engineering management, estimating skills, contracting strategies, construction management and outage planning and execution
