$164,900 - $201,500
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.
Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:
The Prattville Mill is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager. The Prattville Mill is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility with two machines. The mill includes multiple process lines of wood handling, pulping, power and recovery, finished products, and effluent treatment. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with a variety of different areas throughout the mill including operations, maintenance, technical, and management. This position is a member of the lead team and reports to the Mill Manager. This position is responsible for all aspects of managing the Maintenance activities for a medium complex Pulp and Paper Manufacturing facility. Responsibilities cross multiple business unit lines.
- Demonstrate leadership in the area of safety; support broad based participation in the mill’s safety process. Perform as an effective member of the mill leadership team. Embrace and empower safety above all else.
- Develop and nurture a team based organization committed to employee engagement and team work, to ensure the success of the Prattville Mill. Utilize CSA process to align & balance scorecard initiatives to personal objective
- Focus on developing a strong reliability culture where a clear partnership exists between Maintenance, Operations and Engineering.
- Effectivly Manage the department to achieve budget manufacturing costs; ensure appropriate attention to cost issues and search for new methods to allow cost reductions.
- Foster a culture that supports equipment care and improved reliability with goals to continuously reduce unscheduled downtime. Focus on closing realizable gaps and maintain reliability metrics.
- Set expectations and hold both teams and individuals accountable for results.
- Effectivly manage contractor relations, union relations & internal and external customers
- Provide for a structured shift operating maintenance system.
- Set the Maintenance budget and assure that all repair costs including contracted repairs are managed within budget.
- Responsible for all aspects of equipment care, predictive maintenance repairs and annual outage coordination.
- Conduct 1-1s with employees to provide guidance and development.
- Must manage in a goal oriented environment to deliver targeted results in the areas of Safety, Employee Engagement, and Reliability Excellence.
- Provide visible and active leadership while delivering excellent safety results
- Manage, identify, and implement process solutions to improve safety, reliability, and/or quality issues
- Accountable for delivering success from project development through project implementation
- Engage project customers including business units and other mill leaders throughout the process to ensure department and mill objectives are addressed and to deliver world class results
- Manage multiple projects at any given time
- Support 5S programs for the department and drive improvement projects, audit systems, and excellent results
- Identify and implement cost reduction strategies that reduce the cost of ownership
- Implement systems to improve/sustain results
- Willing to work weekends and extra hours on shutdowns to meet project goals
- Fulfill weekend duty team lead role for the mill.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Minimum of 10 years of Pulp and Paper industry experience with 5 years in Maintenance or Maintenance Engineering.
- Demonstrated record of safety commitment and results.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels.
- Demonstrated leadership focused on accountability and results.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance functions.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Knowledgeable in the engineering principles and practices applicable to an industrial manufacturing facility.
- Strong desire to work in heavy manufacturing setting.
- High regard for safety in the workplace and active willingness to be a safety leader.
- Comfort with all levels of employees including operators, engineers, contractors, and various levels of management.
- Instill safety as a core value within the team and effectively communicate a shared vision for safety
