Manager Manufacturing Excellence

The Pine Hill Mill is currently seeking a Manufacturing Excellence Manager (MME). Pay Level (PL) may vary depending on experience.

 

Position Scope:

The MME is a lead team position reporting to the Mill Manager. They are responsible for the platform and process for managing improvement within the facility.  This position is the champion of year-over-year improvement, and coordinates the identification, evaluation, prioritization and implementation of mill performance improvement opportunities.  This role is responsible for introducing disruptive technologies particularly in advanced data analytics to include programs such as Braincube, SIMCA, Envoy, PI Framework, etc.  The MME is tasked with sustaining progress through the effective use of the sustainability model/concepts.  This position works with mill lead team members to integrate and prioritize Manufacturing Excellence (ME) initiatives for the mill, and champions the mill’s overall improvement process.  The MME manages approximately eight salaried ME team members.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Safety leadership development of team, and safety leadership activities across the mill in all areas
  • Lead ME organization , which includes ME leaders and ME engineers, ensuring the overwhelming majority of the team’s time and energy is devoted to improvement
  • Administers REACH development process at the mill
  • Core member of college recruiting team at the mill, and owner of the health intern/co-op program
  • GMS oversight
  • Ensure penetration of LEAN tools/Six sigma processes, including development of white/green/black belts within the mill
  • Champion best practices processes both specific to ME in business and region, as well as to area/department specific best practice teams, replicates successes across the mill
  • Budget development process team member, ensuring line of sight to improvements necessary to delivery 3% YOY
  • Mill strat plan 3 year plus 1 outlook annual updating
  • Personal development/achievement of MME certification (six sigma black belt +)
  • Member of the mill people development council

 

Required Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (chemical, electrical, or mechanical) or related field.

Significant previous operations or maintenance assignments, APM/AMM or multiple APM/AMM assignments, or business unit level leadership assignments. Green belt preferred.  MME must complete black belt level training (and achieve MME certification) to learn six sigma skills and facilitate the use of these skills in the mill.
