Pay Rate:

$68,300 - $100,100

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Position Scope:

Promote the health and safety of all employees. Provide medical assistance for work related injured and/or ill employees as well as emergency medical response for all matters until EMS arrives. Assist the Health and Safety Department administer the company’s safety and health programs. Normal working hours will be Monday – Friday (7 AM – 4PM). This facility has continuous operations and runs 24/7. There will be occasions when the needs of employees/site require the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to work outside of these hours. During Mill outages, this position will be expected to work 12 hours shifts for approximately two weeks or longer, depending on duration of outage.

 

 

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Report to and take direction from EHS Manager and Corporate OH Manager.
  • Manage all OH Programs including required training.
  • Provide Occupational Health Services to mill employees, under the supervision of our Occupational Health Medical Director.
  • Provide direct medical assistance to employees for all work related injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide direct medical assistance for personal health emergencies until individual is transported off site.
  • Supervise Medical Emergency Response Team.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate population health care plan annually.
  • Lead the Ergonomics team’s program efforts.
  • Complete self-assessments of Occupational Health Program elements.
  • Maintain OH medical records of all employees per internal requirements and state regulations.
  • Coordinate Care with attending physician (s), W/C adjusters and case managers for all employee’s receiving W/C.
  • Conduct post offer health assessments, return to work (RTW) and surveillance assessments.
  • Perform specimen collection for Drug Free Workplace Program (DFWP) program.
  • Maintain good and open communication with all business managers on site.
  • Identify health and safety hazards and counsel employees on reduction of risk.
  • Uses and maintains accurate and complete records while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain and calibrate all medical equipment as required by OSHA and/or company.
  • Maintain adequate and up to date inventory of appropriate safety, emergency medical supplies.
  • Coordinate and schedule approved medical waste disposal program and process for payment.
  • Maintain over-the-counter medications for widely used medications.
  • Process all administrative requirements for prescriptive safety eyewear program.
  • Assist in conducting company safety and health orientations, operation inspections with recommendations on potential safety hazards to health and safety.

The Skills You Will Bring:

Successful candidate should have the ability to:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface with Employees, Department Managers, ERT, OCC-Med Physician and Medical Community.
  • Graduation from an accredit School of Nursing (RN) and licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state.
  • Maintain certification in Hearing Conservation (COHC – Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist).
  • Maintain certification in spirometry testing and respirator fit testing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Human Services (HHS), worker’s compensation and OSHA regulations and responsibilities.

 

 

Highly Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a nurse including ER, Trauma, Critical Care or Operating Room.
  • Maintain or obtain board certification in Occupational Health as (COHN/COHN-S).
  • Maintain American Heart Association instructor certification in CPR/First Aid/ AED training.
