The Area Process Manager - Woodyard directs and supervises the day-to-day operation of the Woodyard area supported with systems and structures. Coordinates daily maintenance and all maintenance outages including monthly and annual maintenance outages. Assists the Fibers Business Unit Manager in the overall operations. The end results should include: a safe and well-run operation, a trained and engaged work force, controlled costs, and maintained equipment.
The Job You Will Perform:
- Set and maintain high standards in Safety. Actively lead by example by being a visible presence in your areas of responsibility. Provide feedback through daily conversations and formal 1:1. Work with MWS team to manage prioritized safety Work Order backlog for your area of responsibility. Attend safety meetings and assist OMC in managing list of crew issues and providing timely feedback. Address areas of concern. Hold operators accountable for safety.
- Set and maintain high standards in housekeeping. Establish standards and specific expectations and make frequent inspections. Build systems that drive sustained improvement. Hold operators accountable for housekeeping.
- Work with MWS team in coordination of day-to-day maintenance activities and manage a prioritized daily and outage work order backlog. Communicate with maintenance supervision, make rounds on equipment, and write work orders. Actively participate in troubleshooting and the RCFA process. Responsible for completion of RCFA action items and tracking results. Schedule maintenance in a cost-effective way that supports the operation of the Woodyard area. Drive Basic Care system with operators to improve reliability of the systems
- Schedule and plan monthly and annual maintenance outages. Communicate with other departments and with management as to their outage schedule and production running schedule
- Responsible for the successful planning and execution of all capital projects.
- Responsible for cost control of all aspects of Woodyard area. Monitor and control maintenance dollars in the Woodyard operations by working with MWS team scheduling routine maintenance thereby reducing unscheduled downtime as a result of equipment failure. Control energy and chemical costs.
- Responsible for demonstrating improvement in production, system performance, reliability, availability and quality above historical limits.
- Technical support – Must be capable to provide technical knowledge to resolve operational problems and specific expertise will be required for wood handling, chipping, chip quality control and bark handling.
- Implement processes and equipment changes utilizing a MOC process that not only improve Woodyard area parameters and/or reduce operating cost, but also foster an inclusive culture.
- Educate, reinforce and document work practices of operators and maintenance staff of Woodyard areas. Develop operating crewmember’s capabilities in the manufacturing process using engagement skills. Effective coaching skills required.
- Utilize, promote, and advance the GMTI program for the Woodyard.
- Continually develop and improve systems such as Basic Care, 5S, IEPM, MPM, PdM, and other GMS related systems.
- Must be capable to support other environmental and fiber-line areas as needed.
- Address administrative/personnel issues as needed.
- Self-Development – Take advantage of training opportunities and developmental assignments by personal initiative.
- Build and own an integrated action plan for areas of responsibility.

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma and equivalent work experience
- Four years of manufacturing experience
- Minimum one year experience in leadership role
- Experience in the operation of wood processing preferred
