PL 13

$91,500 to $134,200

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Technical Assistant Pulp at our Rome, GA Linerboard Paper Mill will be responsible for improving operational efficiency and helping to improve cost control, quality, and compliance specifications.

 

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Primary responsibility will be overseeing the operation of the mill’s 500 ton per day OCC plant.
  • Secondary responsibility will be providing technical support for the Pulp Mill which includes the following operating units: Batch digesters, Blow Heat System, Screening & Refining, Vacuum Washing.
  • Support Capital Project development and commissioning
  • Ensure a safe work environment and be a leader for safety
  • Maintain high standards in safety and housekeeping. Attend safety meetings. Address areas of concern.
  • Create and implement systems to improve run ability and efficiency of process units
  • Self-Development – take advantage of training opportunities and developmental assignments by personal initiative

 

Reporting and Accountability Relationships:

  • This position receives direction from the Pulp Business Unit Manager and/or Area Process Manager. It functions as an assistant to the Area Process Manager and has wide latitude for decisions pertaining to the overall operation of the Pulp Mill. This includes decisions on digester and washer efficiency issues and performance.
  • Accountable to internal and external customers

Business Contacts:

  • Internal: All support groups: paper, utilities, and maintenance – requires constant communications to accomplish the task of producing linerboard of high quality in a safe efficient, low cost manner.
  • External: washer suppliers, chemical vendors, and others

 

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:

  • BS in Engineering or other related field of study.
  • At least 5 years related experience in paper mill operations, coordinating shutdowns, and project management.
  • Action Oriented, Dealing with Ambiguity, Functional/Technical Skills, Intellectual Horsepower, Problem Solving, Process Management, Management Through Systems
