General Maintenance Mechanic

Physical Location: Savannah Mill

Compensation: Pay rate is $41/hr.

New hires are eligible for $5,000 Sign-on Bonus AND Up to $5,000 Relocation Bonus (if applicable) *

*Must be new hires to International Paper after 10/13/2021 and must have not been employed by another International Paper location in the previous three (3) months

*Up to $5,000 in relocation assistance will be available for new hires that relocate more than 75 miles from the Savannah Mill

The Job You Will Perform:

As a General Mechanic duties include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screwed pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, and repair of mechanical drive systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Two-year Associate Degree in a related field OR a registered apprenticeship OR similar formal training is required
• Three or more years of experience in Heavy Industrial Maintenance 
• Previous multi-skilled maintenance experience
• Must possess high standards in the areas of safety, quality, ethics, craftsmanship, customer focus, and leadership skills
• Knowledge of mechanical drives, pumps, seals, lubrication and hydraulics
• Piping layout and installation experience
• Welding experience: stick, mig, tig, certified
• Machine shop skills ex. Lathes, boring, balancing, CNC, etc.
• Previous multi-skilled maintenance experience 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Three years of mechanical maintenance in pulp and paper industry

PLUS:  Must be willing to meet the following requirements:

• Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment

• Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment.

• Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule

• Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
• Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
• Wear required safety equipment
• Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection)
• Participate on the HEAT team (in house emergency response team)
