Pay Rate: 

(PL4) 

$47,300-$63,000 

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform: 

The Laboratory Technicians will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor or Environmental Manager, running general chemistry tests in the Analytical Laboratory, and collecting some wastewater samples in the mill. 

 

Including, but not limited to: 

  • Perform daily activities in compliance with documented safety requirements 
  • Analyze wastewater and process samples for different parameters (BOD, COD, TSS, color, moisture, titrations, calculations, etc.) 
  • Collect wastewater samples in accordance with approved protocol and standard operating procedures 
  • Communicate well via oral and written communications with internal and external customers 
  • Obtain, as part of the job, a Georgia Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Certification (includes a company paid week long training class out of town), and obtain as part of the job ongoing recertification points to maintain this Certification 
  • Obtain, as part of the job, 49 CFR DOT Certification to handle and ship hazardous samples 
  • Assist in maintenance of laboratory quality processes and equipment 
  • Maintain work area in an orderly manner; data archiving and record keeping 
  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail 
  • Must be able to lift samples weighing as much as 20-25 lbs. (2.5 gallons) 
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive passenger vehicles such as a pickup trucks or 4-door automobiles 
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays 
  • This position works a Rotating Schedule requiring some weekends 
    • Weekday Schedule: Typically, Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM 
    • Weekend Schedule: Typically, Saturday – Sunday 6:30AM – 3:00/4:00PM 

 

Skills You Will Bring: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory 
  • Practical understanding of metrics, data analytics, and problem solving 
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Excel 
  • Certified as a Georgia Wastewater Laboratory Analyst preferred 
  • 2 yr. Associate Degree in chemistry or biology preferred
