Facilities Engineer

The Riverdale Mill is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer for the Central Services area of the Maintenance and Engineering Department.

 

Position Scope:

The Riverdale Mill, located in Selma AL, is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility with two machines, one producing Brite Top liner and one producing uncoated free sheet.  In addition to the machines, the mill includes multiple process lines, including wood handling, pulping and OCC, power and recovery, sheeting operations and effluent treatment.  The Facilities Engineer position works with the mill Central Services team, Reliability Engineering staff, and Business Unit leadership to develop and implement plans for the ongoing reliability of mill wide infrastructure, including such areas as roofs, steel, roads, insulation, painting, site service systems, management of abandoned equipment, etc.  This position has no direct reports and reports to the Central Services Manager

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and owns all aspects of the infrastructure plan for the mill
  • Develop, execute, and report progress against near and long term action plans for facility maintenance items such as roofing, roads, rail, sewers, painting and insulation, and other central facility infrastructure.
  • Participate in and support management/oversight reviews with leaders from key associated general presence contractors such as Austin Industrial, Gulf Coast Industrial (Mansfield), Waters Railway Repair, Teamcraft Roofing.
  • Develop scope based spending plans for each area/need over multiple years to support facility budgeting and long term planning process
  • Support development of infrastructure based capital projects as needed
  • Serve as contractor coordinator for vendor or contractor resources when necessary.
  • Complete responsibilities in alignment with IP reliability systems (RCFA, PM/PdM, Precision Maintenance, Facility Preservation, etc.)
  • Improve existing or implement new work systems as necessary to ensure the sustainability of progress/positive results, including periodic condition audits, cost/spending management, tracking and planning systems, QA/QC systems, etc
  • Monitor expenses against budgets/PO commitments
  • Support Purchasing team in annual bidding process and performance assessment against key contractual requirements. 
  • Serve on a weekend duty team for the Maintenance department.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance and requisition process in IP
  • Quickly develop thorough knowledge of mill equipment and systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both computer/email as well as written/verbal with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels
  • Approach positional responsibilities in an inclusive manner by engaging all team members in area, department, and mill
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work well with a diversity of contractor supervision/personnel

Required Experience:

B.S. degree in engineering or related field, or comparable work experience.  3-5 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in mechanical maintenance and/or paper industry operations.  Previous supervisory experience a plus. 

Pay Level (PL) may vary based on experience.
