Pay Rate:

$65,100 - $95,500

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Lab Supervisor is a member of the Environmental, Health, & Safety Group and reports to the Environmental Manager at the Riverdale Mill.  This position does directly supervise hourly employees.

 

This role ensures the continued success of the mill’s environmental lab through training and mentoring the lab techs, performs environmental compliance testing, and analyzes results to identify problems and recommend improvements.

 

The job requires knowledge of standard lab test procedures and methods, execution of field sampling, calculation of test results, verification of accurate results and timely communication of test results to applicable personnel with little or no direct supervision.

 

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Independently performing non-routine testing and lab work
  • Writing technical reports with a summary, conclusions and recommendations
  • Supervises and assists with the internal training, development and competency checks of lab staff
  • Identifying and leading implementation of constructive change within work area
  • Interpreting data trends using graphs and correlations with process knowledge and communicating appropriately
  • Supervises timely and accurate preparation, analysis and quantitation of test samples
  • Provides laboratory technical support (coordination with vendors for repairs, calibrations and coordinating with lab team for routine maintenance.)
  • Supports and participates in lab Quality Control Programs
  • Will participate in Weekend Duty Rotation

 

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work with all mill employees as needed to promote and achieve a safe work place.  The individual will have good written and oral skills.

 

The successful candidate, under direction of the Environmental Manager, will work with mill management to develop specific objectives aimed at improving mill performance in the HSE area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related/equivalent field of study required
  • 2+ years’ experience in an environmental laboratory setting
  • Experience in a paper manufacturing setting is strongly preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft and SAP Applications
  • Active Learner
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented team player
