Reliability Engineer

The Riverdale Mill is currently seeking a Reliability Engineer. 

 

Position Scope:

Riverdale Mill, located in Selma AL, is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility with two machines, one producing Brite Top liner and one producing uncoated free sheet.  In addition to the machines, the mill includes multiple process lines, including wood handling, pulping and OCC, power and recovery, sheeting operations and effluent treatment.  The Reliability Engineer is a technical resource within the Reliability area of our Maintenance department.  The Reliability Engineer provides technical support and guidance for all activities aimed at eliminating equipment failures, which includes maintenance practices, training programs, material specifications, fitness for duty evaluations, upgrade recommendations, and more.  This position works in a team with other Reliability Engineers and reports to the Maintenance Reliability Leader (MRL).

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results
  • Conduct and understand Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process, Basic Care, etc.
  • Maintain equipment reliability records and reporting/measuring processes
  • Manage reliability database process for the area, including tracking of entries and quality of data
  • Participate in the MWS process for the area, reporting progress against required deliverables
  • Support reliability based training activities for hourly and salaried operations and maintenance personnel
  • Identify and implement maintenance solutions to improve safety, reliability, and/or quality issues
  • Engage business unit team members and other mill leaders throughout the process to ensure department and mill objectives are addressed and to deliver world class results
  • Manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Support routine and annual outage planning and execution activities
  • Supervise hourly reliability technicians as needed, including PM/PdM and Lubrication technicians and trainers
  • Champion elements of the company’s reliability initiatives as needed
  • Identify and implement reliability focused cost reduction strategies that reduce the cost of ownership
  • Provide support for capital project development and implementation
  • Implement systems to improve/sustain results
  • Provide support for budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year over year savings
  • Perform the necessary field work to obtain accurate information for the design
  • Support 5S program for the area and drive improvement projects, audit systems, and excellent results
  • Fulfill weekend duty team leadership role for Maintenance or assigned Business Units.

  • Expertise in areas such as lubrication, vibration, precision mechanical and electrical practices, rotating equipment, electrical power distribution, and electrical instrumentation and controls 
  • Utilize the International Paper Change Process to drive change
  • Support Manufacturing Excellence (ME) process and utilize ME tools when appropriate
  • Successful candidates must have thorough knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft.  Supervisory experience is preferred with preference given to candidates with experience managing a project/maintenance engineering team. 
  • Utilize strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively

 

 

 

                                                                                   

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering field or equivalent practical experience required.  5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and experience working in a fully integrated paper mill a plus. 

 

Pay Level (PL) may vary depending on experience.
