$65,100 - $86,800
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Position level may vary based on experience.

The Job You Will Perform:
Be a safety leader. Provide field level leadership of chip and fiber fuel fiber testing along with supplier analysis. Conduct technical inspection and evaluation on chip and fiber fuel producing equipment. Analyze, test, audit, and perform maintenance on chip and fiber fuel quality laboratory and various sampling infrastructure components. Provide resource information to various joint teams. Document and communicate benchmarking and reference information to suppliers and customers. Conduct training on systems and equipment as required. Ensure fiber quality labs meet all region and corporate safety, health and environmental guidelines. Oversight of fiber quality lab productivity, cost and quality deliverables. Utilize a structured, analytical approach such as manufacturing excellence to ensure continuous improvement and process sustainability. Support Fiber Supply and mill team members in process improvement.
- Ensure that International Paper Mills receive optimum fiber quality to digesters for pulp and boilers for steam generation:
- Demonstrate and deliver safety excellence by taking safe actions and complying with all safety policy and training requirements.
- Facilitate delivery of highest quality chip and fiber fuel fiber to paper mill customers that contributes to the highest sustainable fiber value by providing field analytical, technical, and diagnostic support to internal and external suppliers.
- Work closely with our internal mill partners to identify and act upon fiber quality and yield improvement opportunities.
- Deliver appropriate information and data to suppliers and mill customers by documenting and benchmarking fiber quality and yield data.
- Provide technical reports using IP’s database programs.
- Ensure fiber quality infrastructure components meet standards for valid, reliable, and consistent data by performing calibration, maintenance, audits, and other duties as required.
- Institutionalize protocols and standards by providing training for fiber quality lab personnel and others associated with the process.
- Willing to accept temporary assignments that require travel.
- Scope
- West Region – Two to three International Paper mills.
- Key External Vendors: Sawmills, chip mills and in-woods chip producers delivering chips and fiber fuel to those facilities.
- Responsible for management of fiber quality lab operating expenses.
- Responsible for 1 to 2 indirect reports, contract labor and PPM employed indirect reports.
- Positively and professionally represent International Paper
- Positively represent International Paper in dealings with internal and external contacts.
- Communicates quality and safety program expectations and specifications to external vendors.
- Communicates vendor/supplier’s safety and quality issues to FS team members.
- Assists in minimizing overhead / procurement expenses.

The Skills You Will Bring:
- B S Forest Resources or related degree, or AA in Forest Technology or related degree, or 3 to 5 years’ experience in chip manufacturing/processing /maintenance or commensurate experience in similar manufacturing environment, or in manufacturing quality control.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Overnight travel up to 40% of time.
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools.
- Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds and work on feet for extended periods of time in hot / cold conditions.
- Must be able to adapt to change, be effective at dealing with different personalities, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Skilled/knowledgeable of chip and fiber fuel producing equipment.
- Skilled/knowledgeable of machine diagnostic tools, other.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
