Maintenance A (Senior Tech 2) Job Description
- Following all safety rules and practices
- Performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
- Performing emergency / break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations.
- Accurately using measurement and test equipment.
- Performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other repairs and installations as needed.
- Maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
- Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork.
- Trouble-shooting and solving problems.
- Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills.
- Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities.
- Able to use SAP/Excel for creating, logging time and completing work orders.
- Ability to complete End of Shift reports and email to leaders and management.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Contractor Training and Safety Rules for contractors when new on-site.
- Perform and complete PMs on machines in timely manner.
- Research and obtain correct information for ordering parts.
- Attend outside training related to maintenance.
- Operate all types of hand tools (i.e. drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch, etc.) normally found in a Maintenance shop
- Able to examine and determine to what degree parts have worn, and repair or replace parts as needed.
- Perform fabrication of equipment (welding both arc and gas) to desired needs. Be able to make adjustments on equipment to improve productivity. Be able to identify and locate unusual sounds that indicate potential trouble. Be able to dismantle equipment to gain access to defective parts.
- Troubleshoot, repair, modify and rebuild mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components.
- Weld, braze, solder and perform technical machine work when required.
- Install and remove machinery as needed.
- Follow preventative and predictive maintenance plans.
- A more in-depth understanding of machine components
- Must be able to read mechanical blue prints and schematics
- Must be able to reference equipment manuals and other technical literature; knowledge of detailed mechanical equipment drawings and ability to use detailed blueprints in carrying out troubleshooting and equipment repairs, contacting and working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results
- Must be able to create a part drawing
- Must be able to lay out a part and machine to drawing requirements
- Must be able to read hydraulic drawings and symbols
- Must be able to read wiring diagrams and understand symbols
- Must have a complete understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components, their functions and understand their failure modes.
- Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. Including machinery maintenance, lubrication, PM’s, trouble shooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
- Must be able to plan/coordinate major rebuilds with outside contractors. (Ordering/Kitting parts, scheduling downtime with management for rebuild)
- Troubleshoot drives, i.e. AC and DC.
- Install wiring and conduit for newly installed and existing equipment such as conveyors, programmable controllers, coating machinery
- Read electrical block diagrams, schematics as well as PLC ladder logic.
- Diagnose and repair/replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards.
- Know and understand all requirements for IP the same as NFPA-70E and NEC.
- Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices such as proximity switch timers, scanners and photo electric devices.
- Must have a complete understanding of machine functions and the process as a whole.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of electrical trouble-shooting for PLC’S, AC/DC electrical motor controls, drive cabinets, and control voltage circuits.
- Must be willing to work independently or with other maintenance staff to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Must be able to use computer to read ladder logic and edit ladder logic
- At least one-year experience at Maintenance B or equivalent knowledge of machinery, PLC systems, Electrical systems, and Welding.
- Must Demonstrate and pass a skills test consistent of Plant machinery, PLC systems, Electrical systems, Welding (arc and gas).
- Must be able to work Heights.
- Must be able to run forklift, clamp truck, man lift , or other motorized equipment to perform maintenance tasks per IP standards.
- Must be willing and able to lift and carry 75lbs.
- Must be willing and able to take call or fill in for other shifts when needed.

- Excellent teamwork and cooperation; must work independently as well as in a team setting. Willingness to be fully cross-trained in other technical areas of the facility.
- Industrial Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic troubleshooting experience and repair

- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience with predictive/preventative maintenance programs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
- Ability to work rotating shifts
