RDC Lead


Position Title: Rotary Die Cutter Lead  


Pay Rate:

$27.00 / Hr. 

Sign on Bonus:

$1,000 after 90 days,

$1,000 after 6 months,



Hourly / Full-Time

Monday – Friday / Every other Saturday

3:00pm – 3:00am

The Team Leader’s primary responsibility is to assist with the leadership, coaching, training, and development of department team members. Team Leaders may be utilized as backfill for the temporary absence of a salaried Supervisor but does not have the authority to hire, fire, nor to determine discipline. The Team Leader leads the crew in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that manufacturing order specifications along with quality and quantity requirements are met.  Occasionally, the employee works near high speed equipment with moving rolls and nip points.  The employee may also work in close proximity to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, gravitational, thermal, and mechanical energy sources. The Team Leader works under the instruction of the Converting Supervisor.



  • Complies with all safety and lockout procedures.
  • Report safety hazards and unsafe acts/conditions to Supervisor immediately.
  • Check machine safety features and operations for soundness.  Enter maintenance notifications in SAP.
  • Leader of the converting crew.
  • Leads crew by initiating or suggesting plans to motivate team members to accomplish production goals.
  • Recommends measures to improve safety and production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Takes immediate and accurate corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Discuss any issues with previous Supervisor/Team Leader prior to start of shift.
  • Assists with the coordination of activities for the crew.
  • Assists with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Assists with addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists with managing crew breaks.
  • Spearheads safety for self and team members.
  • Documenting absentee events that occur on shift.
  • Collecting data (machine and quality deficiencies, goal attainment, roll stock consumption, etc).  
  • Being proactive by learning and understanding how to prevent operational and quality issues (warp, delamination, etc).
  • Become familiar with and utilize software designed to increase safety, productivity, and waste reduction (COPAR, QMS, SAP, KIWI, RSS, etc).
  • Understand and differentiate between different grades and widths of medium and liner.
  • Pre-plan for special applications at both ends of the converting.






   High school diploma or general education degree, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must have the ability to communicate effectively.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Must have the ability to read a tape measure.


  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. 


The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.


The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Employee is required to handle a utility knife regularly.




Must be at least 18 years of age

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and high places.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibration, fumes, or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical current.   Plant temperatures can range from 50°F to 110°F with seasonal changes.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
