Operations Maintenance Coordinator - Paper

Springfield Paper Mill

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the MWS (Manufacturing Work System) process for the paper department at the Springfield, Oregon paper mill.  The OMC is responsible for leading the MWS team and ensuring that critical work is prioritized, planned, scheduled, and executed in the most efficient way possible. Commitment to the MWS workflow is critical to success. Results will be accomplish by driving Reliability Best Practices into the daily business practices conducted within the manufacturing business unit.  In addition, they will assist with the safe and efficient operation of the paper machine. The successful candidate must be a strong safety advocate and work with the team in achieving safety excellence. This position will have on call responsibilities on a rotating basis for operations.  This position will report directly to the Paper Machine Area Process Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote and support a safe and engaging culture
  • Provide leadership to troubleshoot maintenance issues
  • Lead, Facilitate, and document daily MWS meetings
  • Lead and Facilitate weekly planning meetings and Routine Outage Planning Meetings
  • Screen all work Notifications process as needed.
  • Own and manage the work order backlog, including scheduling and leading quarterly backlog reviews.   
  • Track and assist department in managing maintenance budget through Check Book Spending tool
  • Develop Daily and Annual Outage Planning Schedule using MS Project
  • Enforce company policies and procedures while maintaining a supportive work environment
  • Lead by example and ensure acceptable work practices are being followed
  • Support and assist in company initiatives such as  5S or other Global Manufacturing Systems activities
  • Support the paper machine during daily and annual shutdowns

Key Knowledge, Experience and Required Competencies

  • Engineering degree preferred, or candidates with +10 years experience in paper manufacturing and 5 years in leadership role will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in pulp or paper mill environment
  • Strong commitment to safety in all aspects of business operations
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills and ability to motivate others
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes and skills
  • Thorough and detailed knowledge of paper making processes
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)
