Pay Rate:

$91,500 – 122,000

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:

 

The Project Manager is an integral position in the maintenance and engineering organization, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The Project Manager work closely with a variety of different functional groups throughout the mill including: operations, maintenance, reliability, capital engineering, manufacturing excellence, and management.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Be a key example and driver of the Safety First philosophy. 
  • Provide mechanical engineering design and facilitation support to the engineering team. 
  • Lead planning and implementation of both capital projects and maintenance improvements. 
  • Manage outside contractors that provide both equipment and/or services. 
  • Be willing to expand technical knowledge and implementation in both inside and outside core disciplines. 
  • Coordinate all phases of project, from business justification to start-up including preliminary design studies, selection of equipment or vendors, and development and implementation of recommendations. 
  • Manage the budget, schedule, and performance of all assigned capital projects.  
  • Assure engagement and alignment from required project constituents and team members for all projects. 
  • Mentor and assist with the development of less experienced team members.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

 

  • B.S. in accredited engineering program.
  • 5 or more years of experience in heavy industry performing project/maintenance engineering work, preferably in the Pulp and Paper industry.
  • Possess excellent skills in written and oral communication, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution and task group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop cooperative working relationships between other team members and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skill base.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing and computer aided drafting. 
  • Flexible to meet changing business and team needs and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to excel with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Willing to work weekend duty on a rotating basis and extra hours on shutdowns or to meet goals.
  • Ability to walk across the mill, climb stairs/ladders and work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.
  • Ability to work in a confined space or at heights.
