Position Title: Director – Trust Investments

 

Pay Rate: $170,000 - $210,000 per year

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Physical Location: Stamford, CT

 

The Job You Will Perform:

The Director – Trust Investments plays an integral role in the day-to-day investment activities of the International Paper (IP) Pension and Savings Plan investments.  IP’s Trust Investments team employs a team with strong backgrounds in investments, financial management, math, accounting, and pension fund administration.  The Director – Trust Investments is an important part of this team, which is responsible for the investment management of $15 billion of Pension and 401(k) plan assets.  The team invests across a wide range of asset classes, including public equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate, and hedge funds.  The Director – Trust Investments will be responsible for the monitoring of the Plans’ investment managers, overseeing the Pension cash account, and will be part of the team conducting investment manager due diligence.  The position will be part of a collaborative team.

 

Key responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in evaluating performance, risk exposure and transaction activity of the Pension and Savings Plan’s investments.
  • Oversees Pension Plan cash reserve account, ensuring adequate liquidity for benefit payments, private equity capital calls and expense payments at all times while preventing the build-up of excess cash reserves.
  • Oversees Savings Plan commingled account liquidity buffers, ensuring adequate liquidity while preventing the build-up of excess reserves.
  • Monitors investment managers’ performance and compliance with guidelines, including proxy voting
  • Monitors new investment manager prospects with consultant; coordinates legal review and funding process when new investments are made.
  • Evaluates Pension Risk Transfer opportunities
  • Assists with investment manager transitions and the orderly transfer of assets for plan mergers and divestitures with appropriate parties.
  • Assists in completing periodic projects that relate to the Plans (e.g., communications campaigns, recordkeeper reviews, evaluation of new investment options, etc.).
  • Assists Deputy CIO in managing investment activities of the IP Foundation, Retiree Medical Savings Program, Quarter Century Society, Employee Relief Fund and other “secondary” plans.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required – Finance degree preferred
  • MBA degree or advanced certification (CFA, CAIA) preferred
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in the pension, 401(k), or investment management area
  • Strong analytical and communications skills
  • Solid understanding of investments and pension/401(k) plan management
